our teething sweetheart niece biting on a heart-shaped baking dishHello & Welcome to my 39th episode of the KWH iPad Show! Today’s feature is a Valentine menu of crafty foodish-ness that’ll surely have you stopping to smell the roses… The fresh-baked, rose-shaped pizza roses & apple roses & chocolate-covered strawberry roses!!! ❤

But first, I’d like to introduce you to our youngest great-niece (hubby’s brother’s son’s daughter). Hmmm… looks like our lil’ teething sweetheart is trying to eat her momma’s baking-dish-heart out 😉

Okay, now for the video how-to’s… They’re not knitting, but they’d make great munching-whilst-knitting finger food! Plus, posting them to the blog means I’ll always know where to find ’em… You might want to bookmark this page and try these at home, too 🙂

my 3rd year WP blog♥iversary & what I like about you!

KWH 3rd year blog-iversary

Welcome to my 3rd-year WordPress blog♥iversary… yay!!! Many THANKS to YOU for your blogful support and encouragement throughout the past 3 years! ♥ I’m a little shy, so had not planned to make this a big deal. But then WordPress called to say my blog had achieved its first 1,000 “likes” milestone… woohoo!!! Then they called again the next day, to wish my blog a happy birthday… hooray!!! Then to top it all off, Marcy and her Orples extended my party atmosphere into their own cyber-space… Fun blogging stuff, I tell ya!!!

For sure… so much fun! Yet how could
these 3 years have passed by so quickly?!?

Wanting to mark the momentous occasion,
I created this hearty festive fireworks graphic. It combines my Sweetie♥Knit♥Hearts with a separate fireworks graphic, found here.

It might not be much, but good things (such as these) come in 3’s & in small packages & to those who wait, as they say. And after 3 long years of waiting/nurturing, it’s nice to think I’ve received a small package sampling of the blogosphere’s whole. Looking back, there were 50 lovely likes during my blog’s first year. But today is a different story, with 141 likes since the start of the new year 🙂 Now, my blog is on track for its next 1,000 by the end of 2015! So what’s not to like about that!?!

NOTE:  for anyone who might be wondering… My blog features the Wordpress “like” button (located at the end of each post), plus separate “like” buttons in the comments section. These are accessible to anyone with a Gravatar account. For blog visitors who do not have their own gravatar icon, the starred rating system (located at the top of each post) offers anonymous voting 🙂

Anyhoo… so far, so good… THANKS to ALL of YOU !!!
I hope we will always share our smiles across the miles 😀
Lovin’ that visiting / reading / liking / commenting / sharing / following thing we all do ♥ Yup, that’s what I like about you!

Does your wardrobe need a little heart?

In last week’s post, I demonstrated how to make hearty home decor accents that could be used as: woolerfully festive seasonal garlands… wraps for around dinner napkins/candles and special occasion decor… adornment for your book lovin’ shelves or whatever item/space you love!

Today’s post has a nice ring to it, too (plus matching bracelets)! It’s a hearty form of accessorize with a warm ‘n fuzzy “bling” that will knit-erally have you wearing your heart on your sleeve … errrm, so to speak 😉

Okay, time for accessorizing!

Begin by downloading my Sweetie♥KNIT♥Heart FREE knitting pattern. Click HERE for the original post. You can also view, follow and save my designs to your favourites via Ravelry and Craftsy. Next, knit the hearts from feltable wool and appropriately sized knitting needles. See “how to” PDF instructions (below) for felting the loopy straps. Be sure to leave extra-long tails and check for fit while felting, since the felting process causes wool fibres to shrink/matt and lose the ability to stretch.

.

RING:
US size 3 / 3 mm needles
approximately 6.5 feet / 2 m wool
approximately 12″ / 30 cms yarn tail length for felting
finished strap length: approximately 2.5″ – 2.75″ / 6.25 – 7 cms

BRACELET — single strap:
US size 3 / 3 mm needles
approximately 9 feet / 2.75 m wool
approximately 2.5 feet / .75 m yarn tail length for felting
finished strap length: approximately 8 inches / 20 cms

BRACELET — double strap:
US size 6 / 4 mm needles
approximately 18 feet / 5.5 m double-strand wool
(aka 2 x 9 feet / 2 x 2.75 m)
approximately 2.5 feet / .75 m yarn tail length for felting
finished strap length: approximately 8 inches / 20 cms

NOTE:
knitting double-strand (two strands together as one) gives you the option
for felting two loopy bracelet straps (as pictured), or a single, thicker strap.

how to make Hearty Links with Felted Loops . . . together with another fun visit from the Orples ♥

Well it’s been a while, since that summery September post when I first mentioned my plans to be back “soon” with this next step to making hearty garland felted loop links. Now four ( 4!!! ) months later, I do hope you think it was worth the wait… ?

Diagram: how to make hearty links with felted loops

Time has flown by! But where did it go?!?

It might be hibernating under the snow, although a lot of time has been spent on recent software upgrade learning curves. Oh, and that inbox of mine… Time always seems to lose track of itself when it gets together with my blogfully delightful, yet utterly inbox-icating electronic messaging centre.

Time well spent 😉

My timing might be a bit sheepish, although 2015 is the year of sheep 😉 As well, these hearty felted loopy links are created from sheep’s wool! So now, here it finally is! In time for Valentine’s Day and months ahead of the fibrously hectic Christmas projects rush… Yay!!! Click image to view enlarged PDF instructions.

Oh, and speaking of flying…

Have you met our friendly neighbourhood Orples? They popped by for a third visit to my blog, this week. So fun! Here are links to their first, second and third visits. You might want to visit them and see what all the fun is about 🙂

LOVE is in the Air . . .

Yes, we are fast-approaching Valentine’s Day and love is in the air! And as promised in my last post, I’ve been busy working to prepare a tutorial for your valentine-ing pleasure!

My next tutorial will surely be easier. This FIRST tutorial, however, has been lots of work, along with plenty of hard knocks from learning curves, plus my laser printer’s unexpected and highly inopportune demise …sigh… On the lighter side, it is nice that I am reminded of a joke my dad used to enjoy telling. He liked to say he was working on his second million dollars, since the first million dollars was proving to be much more difficult 🙂

Anyway, it appears that visitor’s traffic to my blog is rising steadily. This is wonderful to see! And it’s important to me that you know this blog will (eventually) feature many more “heart” patterns ‘n projects for you all to see here too 🙂 Thank you very much for stopping by! Please come again, tell all your friends and do come often… You may also choose to sign-up to receive email updates for this blog. That way, you will always know right away when something new is posted ❤

For now, in eager anticipation of the long-awaited tutorial, here is a list of the materials/supplies required for the project. You may want to gather these together now, and be all set to go when the tutorial is posted 🙂

NOTE: There will be two sample layouts for the card(s). Each layout’s template (including the card’s matting template) is set to print 4-up on letter-size paper. This gives you four cards per sheet and reduces waste. The heart-shaped envelope template will print one-per-sheet (1-up) on letter-size paper. Thus, you will need: four sheets of coloured envelope paper + one sheet white laser paper + one sheet coloured card stock per set of 4 cards with envelopes.

NEEDLES ‘n YARN:
US size 6 (4 mm) needles
3 handknit Sweetie❤KNIT❤Hearts per card
approximately 5’ (1.5 m) worsted weight yarn per handknit heart

PAPER:
1 sheet 8.5” x 11” white laser paper—to print the card’s graphic image area
1 sheet 8.5” x 11” coloured laser card stock—to print the card’s matting
1 sheet 8.5” x 11” white laser paper— to print the heart-shaped envelope template
1 sheet 8.5” x 11” coloured paper—to make each heart-shaped envelope from template

OTHER TOOLS/SUPPLIES:
scissors
craft knife and safe cutting surface
large-eyed yarn needle
computer with printer for printing the PDF templates
sticker(s) to seal and/or decorate the heart envelope

Okay, see you shortly!

ttys ❤  Jackie
