Christmas Eve 2016 treats

Merry Christmas EVERYone! Wow, what a year 2018 has been… Only 3 (now 4) published blog posts, ‘though I’ve had plenty to say (accumulating more incomplete draft posts than ever before 🤔

Now for this post, I wanted to link a photo with my last year’s Christmas decor post. And suddenly, there it was. A box of fresh-baked shortbread from our next-door neighbours—uploaded 2 years ago to my WP media folder 😎 What could make it more perfect? We exchanged Christmas cookies again today 😍

Life’s funny like that, isn’t it? Sharing is caring and with crumbs to spare! Yup, ’tis better to give than receive… And ’tis better to realize we have what we need… And ’tis no use chasing our “wants” lists… ’cause have you seen those things? They’re endless! Contentment, now that’s something worth wanting!

the 11th hour… 🎃🎭👺🔥☢🔑☠

October 31st

Benjamin Cho Fall 2007 Collection

Okay, so it’s past the stroke of October… sighhh… I’ve missed the calendar mark, again. But life’s battles continue and I’m determined (come Hell or high water) to post this mixed bag o’ treats via WordPress, YouTube and facebook!

Let’s begin with Pete’s pOwerful post @ Revelation310 “Rage Against the Machine” … Oh wOw… Have you noticed how the entire world’s been spinning freakishly out of control? Here in Canada, useless Soros puppeticians bent on destroying Canada took the helm 3 yrs ago. Yup, way back when life still seemed “normal” :-/ Hope to change that in the 2019 election?!? Well anyhoo… Pete’s article makes Biblically sound sense to me. Do you agree?

Please also enjoy the bountiful harvest of posts from my blog’s fb page. Hopefully something for everyone, including stylishly crafty foodish fun and Nepal’s scariest waterfall highway!

One Hundred Percent” @ Narrow is The Way Ministries and Pastor Charles Lawson’s sermon (below) are about the afterlife… Hell is a real place and my heart’s intent is to scare the Hell out of you so that you don’t end up there! ❤

Coming up next time, I’ll finally fill you in on the project that’s been my focus apart from the blog. And of course, more of that wild ‘n wacky weather of ours 😉

Well okay… here’s a link for
my “top secret” project

Flake News! 😳😝😧🤔☃🇨🇦📢

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Hey there… How’s it snowin’, eh? 🇨🇦 It’s been snoOow long since I’ve been gone…
Nearly half a year of impromptu silence from the blog due to real life curveballs.
Yup, some heavy stuff snuffed my focus until I finally dropped the blogful ball ☹️
But through it all, I’ve learned to lean more deeply upon the LORD Jesus Christ ✝
Whatever happens… once you choose to follow Jesus, He will be your ALL and
His strength will comfort, sustain, carry and pull you through all life’s valleys ❤

By now, the Canadian geese have been squawking to and fro for weeks.
And after this week’s snow, I’m sure they’ll instinctively fly south soon
Time truly flies, whether or not anyone’s having fun! But how can it be
mid-September with our first snow-scape already over and done?!? 😮
Last time we saw September snow was 2014, making our wild weather
all the more normal—here at the 53rd N parallel on the Alberta prairies.

SnoOowww… hope your weather’s treating you well 😎
Fun to catch these snowful pics while they lasted, but sure
hope our summer’s still got some high temps in the tank!
Well at least it roused me from blogful hibernation, right? 😉

Season’s greetings, Everyone!

Ohhh boy… the WP snowfall has begun, Thanksgiving on both sides of the 49th parallel are done and it’s less than a month ’til Christmas! My thankful heart better kick into gear or today’s “Thankful Thursday” post will be late, too…

The past few years have been rough. Yet through it all, we’ve trusted God (and by “God” I’m talking about Jesus) to provide for our needs. Personal plans are always falling short. But today, I’m especially thankful for His revival of my ol’ iMac… Yup, back again after about 10 days of dead silence in the wake of my 200th blog post… phewww!!!

I think God allows troubles because in His omniscient wisdom He knows troubles lead to thinking—and thinking leads to thanking ❤ For instance, I’m thinking my ol’ iMac can’t last much longer. The internal HD is shot (sighhh… lost tons of summer photos, ‘though that’s my own fault for not saving them before the crash), so it’s hooked up to run (more slowly) via an old external HD form of life support :-/ Still, all this thinking lifts my heavy heartfelt thoughts in thanksgiving toward Heaven for The Lord’s faithful provision—gotta ❤ how that works!

Beyond thankful, actually, for this umpteenth chance at renewed focus on my original knitting goal! That goal is to prepare as many proper layouts as possible for the many half-prepped designs God has heartily inspired me to write. SO many half-done prototypes, but it’ll sure feel good to finally format them into PDFs for SALE! Lord willing, I’ll finish the task … before… y’know… silence strikes again!

Yay… one pattern up for sale!
Slowly yet surely, stitch by stitch and step-by-step 🙂 ❤

How big is this problem on a scale of one to God?

unravelling the sound of silence 💜

Oct 4/17 Full Moon

Oct 4/17 Full Moon

October 4, 2017
full moon viewed from our front porch.

Hello Friends… I’m still here 🙋💜😍 ‘though feeling a bit sheepish after all these unplanned months in silence 😜 Spent the summer seeking peaceful moments, whilst traversing stressful detours under increasingly disturbed concern for the Trudeau governments blatant disregard for Canadian democracy! Sadly, this was also the final summer for 4 WordPress bloggers (that I’m aware of) who fell forever silent 😦 It’s a strange feeling to realize people you’ve interacted with online, yet never met in person, are no longer with us 😦 So… ‘guess my blogful “oomph” took a hike. Or was it out flying an inspirational kite?!? Whatever the case, I’ve tried many times but couldn’t get it “write” :-/

Yeah, that’s it… silently flying an inspirational kite atop the plethora of unfinished projects piled high around the unravelling heap of my knotted entanglement 😉 Switching to stitching always helps. But for all life’s ups and downs, my heart is sure glad to have Jesus ❤

Simon & Garfunkel’s thought provoking song about the sound of silence (composed by Paul Simon, 1964) seems a rather timely tune for today. Wouldn’t you say? But can silence have a sound when by definition it is soundless?!? Hmmm, quite the paradox! Well anyway…

Here are a few videos, plus my attempt to spin a lyrical rhyme reflecting the sounds planted within my own particular brain… Perhaps you’ve also been hearing the sounds of silence and listening for God Almighty’s still small voice, while trusting in Jesus as the sole Truth for souls amidst the turmoil of worldly noise and confusion? ✝🙏💜 Feel free to break the silence!

"The Sound of Silence" lyrics by Paul Simon, plus my own version.

Daniel 3:18 — "even if He does not"

Daniel 3:18
“But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.”

Hello & Welcome to my 64th episode of the KWH iPad Show! Today’s feature is a bit of a tangled mess ❤

Over a month since my last blog update, but I’m still here! Can we blame it on the crazy messed-up world we’re living in?!? Hope you’re well and hangin’ in there! Hope you’re not feeling strung-up and stressed-out like this endearing sheep of yarnful entanglement. Or like me… Yeah, feels like I’ve been hangin’ with this sheep a lot lately :-/ Click the screenshot image to find this woolerful print for sale on Etsy 🙂 I figured it’s a fitting illustration of how I’ve been feeling 😉

“Even If” by MercyMe is the song my heart’s been singing and syncing, more deeply by the day ❤ What a comfort to know Jesus loves us and is fully able/willing to move life’s tangled mountains! But even if His provision differs from our preferred outcome, we know He will always love and take care of us.

He’s been faithful and good all of my days… I have faith in Him for what He’s already done… Come what may, my soul shall cling to Christ alone ❤

Hello & Welcome to my 62nd episode of the KWH iPad Show! Today’s feature is Easter ❤

Yup… a bit late :-/

In my defense, there’s been a major distraction… An overwhelmingly welcome distraction, which I’ll soon be blogging about!!! 😀

For now, this Easter post is running “late” (according to the calendar date) and I need to hop to it 😉 Always better a bit late than never at all, right?!? …hmmm…

Please enjoy the show, including christian comedian Tim Hawkins’ version of the classic AMAZING GRACE hymn with a twist of classic EAGLES band ❤

Psalm 139:13-16

In today’s reblogged post, Tanya Cliff uses her own hand-knit samples to demonstrate a writer’s words as being strung together like rows or rounds of basic to complex knit stitches. She also quotes a Bible verse about the original knitter of the entire universe—who is God the Creator of all things! And that’s a great analogy worth sharing, I’d say 🙂

Adding to that…

This “life” fabric we’re writing will indeed formulate into many vibrantly patterned stitches/genres. Some stitches may “felt” dull. Others lacking in recommended tension will inevitably stretch out of shape. Unintentionally slipped stitches may cause entire WIPs (works in progress) to unravel prior to being properly cast off… And it could all spell trouble :-/ Try as we might to write right, I’m glad there’s one master editor—our heavenly Father… the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, who knew us before time began and knit us together in our mother’s womb 🙂 He is faithful and just to freely edit all errors for anyone who asks… And it’s by His pen that our names are written in the Book of Life ❤

So let’s trust Him and be patient with one another…
because God is not finished editing us yet! ♥ Jackie

Knitting a row of stitches at its most basic is like stringing simple words along the page to form a sentence. The dog runs. It gets boring quickly. The motivated knitter learns how to successfully…

men dressed in fibrous creativity
Hello & Welcome to my 36th episode of the KWH iPad Show! Today is a friendly day of cyber-fibre fun, in honour of our friend Ursula’s birthday ❤

Ursula is our neighbour. It’s always fun when we get together… But even when we can’t, good ol’ facebook bridges the smiles across the miles 🙂

In honour of this special day, I thought it’d be fun to greet her with a blog post to hightlight some of the crack-me-up fun photos she posts on my fb page ’cause they make her think of… me!

LoLoLoL ❤ Ursula
Happy birthday, to you!

Warning:  some of these fibrous images
really ought to come with a warning and
may be best viewed with eyes closed 😉

And please… don’t get any ideas
about knitting any of this stuff…
Or just share photos, if you do!!!

Did you know approx 360,000 people world-wide are born every day? That’s a BIG party! So if today’s your b-day, do consider this my “happy birthday” hugs/wishes post to you, too ❤

serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received…
so that God may be glorified in all things through Jesus Christ.”

Romans 15:13
Hello & Welcome to my 35th episode of the KWH iPad Show! I hope your year so far is going well 🙂 Our 2016 got off to a rough start 😦 But today is a new day… and the “show” must go on!

So can you believe it’s been 9 months since my iMac died and left the blogging to just you, me & my iPad? Yup! … 9 solid months, since I’ve stroked the blogful keys of a real computer that uses more than an app for this or that! I’d never have believed it possible to last this long without going completely bonkers. Yet, here we all are… 9 months ago, we were a crowd of 330 readers, including WordPress + 30 or so “likes” from facebook… Then wOw, look at the 600+ crowd we are now!

Thanks everyone ❤ for keeping me company,
through to the new year… and counting!

Hello & Welcome
to my 31st episode of the
KWH iPad Show!

Today’s feature is true love…
and why life is meaningful, for me 🙂

Time, Heart, Behavior imagegratitude heart image

Today… is Wednesday!
2 weeks ’til Christmas 🙂
246 days since my iMac died 😦
20 years of living happily married after ❤

Today… I find loving comfort
in holding
my dear husband near 🙂

Today… I remain blogfully diligent
in hopes that my iPad will outwit, outlast and outplay the economic storm :-/

And today… I am blessed beyond measure
in this Christmas season, by the everlasting light of my Saviour the Lord Jesus Christ—who left His throne in Heaven to be born of a virgin, then put to death and resurrected… conquering death. All this, for the sake of His true love for sinful souls, like me… And now, all who trust in Him will be set free!

Yes today…
this triumphant baby
lives and reigns in my heart!
He is the reason life is worth living,
and He is my joyous reason for
celebrating this Christmas season ❤

Song Bird Songs

My defiance takes a different note,

“They” want me to fear

So I will choose love not hate,

For only love casts out fear.

“They” want to manipulate my mind just as they manipulated the killers.

No go! I have free choice, I choose good, not evil.

“They” want me to cower, to become afraid to voice my own faith,

I choose instead to confirm my faith in a God of love,

The only one able to deal with “them”.

“They” cannot be “bombed out of existence”

Like the hydra “they” will only grow more heads.

Like chemo or radiation, that may give temporary reprieve, (while creating devastation) but it will not destroy the “stem cells”.

The real perpetrators lurk unseen in the shadows and the “cancer” will spread and grow again,

We see only the pawns in their diabolical power game.

Yet I will sing,

For God himself plays…

potted daylily sprouting

potted daylily sprouting

April 3rd was Good Friday, as well as my birthday 🙂 Such festive dates as these align only every few years, so it’s extra special when they do! It was a day for phone calls and messages from far away friends/family, including a few lovely KWH facebook friends .. To our delight, we noticed that our potted daylily had sprouted whilst still tucked away for the winter in the garage. It’s not much, but it’s growing! And once again, the snow has melted—after a wild snow storm on April Fool’s day! For dinner, chef hubby lovingly prepared my requested offal b-day platter of beef liver, fried onions, mashed potatoes and beans. It’s not everyone’s b-day dish wish, but yummmmy for me! Oh, and this post is later than hoped. There was a kerfuffle when my computer froze with a “gift” of it’s own 😛 What a mess it’s been, fighting to find my way back to the usual 800+ inbox messages—which had somehow ballooned to nearly 6,000… yikes!!!

And that, in a nutshell, was my birthday/Easter weekend so far 😀
Now would you like some yarn cake?

Celebrations on this Easter Sunday will vary, but I hope everyone manages to squeeze in some yarn and/or chocolate bunnies/eggs along the way 🙂 For me, there will be all of these… but Easter is mainly about celebrating new life in Christ… I live because He lives! ♥

It was x-number of years ago,
when I emerged from mother’s womb.
It was 2000 or so years ago,
when Christ Jesus was laid in the tomb.
Then came the third day,
when up from the grave He arose!
Thereby saving us all from
eternal damnation and woes ♥

the Heart of Christmas ♥ hearty handknit decorations

close-up of stair railing decorated with handknit hearts

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Wishing you a merrily heartfelt Christmas and a happily decorated staircase! We don’t have a Christmas tree. What we do have is a lot of yarn and handknit heart decorations. And since decorating the staircase was so much fun last year, I thought it might be fun to do it again this year 🙂 Hmmm… could this be the start of a new tradition?!? How many years does it take to build a tradition?

Anyway, yarn is always fun to play around with and take photos of—before and/or after it is knit up 🙂 As you may recall, these are the same backyard photo props from last week’s “deck the yard with hearts of yarn-y” post. Yup… lots of good, clean, indoor/outdoor hearty yarn-bombing fun going on around here! Stay tuned to this blog for more details on making your own hearty “how to’s” in 2015!

May your heart overflow with
love, joy, happiness and peace…
at Christmas time and
throughout the new year.

Merry Christmas! ♥ Jackie

Easter in Living Colour ❤

Mulit Coloured Sheep by Cooldawg

As we g(r)aze upon this vivid “flock of sheep” photo… does it remind you of anything?

To me, it’s like a baa baa baah-sket filled with colourful Easter eggs 🙂  . . .  Or like the grazing version of my knitting fantasy to have a neatly stacked wall(s) filled with yarn!  . . .  I find it rather stimulating. Yet at the same time, it warms my heart and gives me that cozy-warm, fuzzy-snuggly feeling inside ❤

Truly, this photo is vibrant and fantastic,
yet peaceful—all at the same time.
Who could have guessed that a splash
of neon-pastel could look so perfectly natural
in a meadow, right?

These particular sheep belong to a research flock at the US Sheep Experiment Station near Dubois, Idaho, USA

And here are the same sheep, au naturel…
Their natural beauty leaves us wanting nothing more than to reach out and hug ‘em in all their lovely woolly goodness. Yet the artist’s colourization technique (pictured above) has quite definitely added a whole new level to the thought of soft & cuddly!

And so this Easter, these photos have reminded me of the reason why my heart loves to celebrate Christmas and Easter. Everyone celebrates in their own way, but for me it is all about Jesus! And just like these photos, my life naturally seemed pretty good until I met Jesus Christ and invited Him to be Lord of my life.

Ever since then, life has become more and more vibrant and fantastic, yet peaceful—all at the same time. Plus oh so colourful, even on dreary days when it doesn’t really feel like it.

Wishing you a colourful life! ❤ Jackie

He is not here;
He has risen,
just as He said.
— Matthew 28:6 —

a Sandy Hook tribute… 11 days before Christmas

twas’ 11 days before Christmas,
around 9:38
when 20 beautiful children
stormed through heaven’s gate.

their smiles were contagious,
their laughter filled the air.
they could hardly believe all
the beauty they saw there.

they were filled with such joy,
they didn’t know what to say.
they remembered nothing of what
had happened earlier that day.

“where are we?” asked a
little girl, as quiet as a mouse.
“this is heaven.” declared a
small boy. “we’re spending
Christmas at God’s house.”

when what to their wondering eyes did appear,
but Jesus, their savior, the children gathered near.
He looked at them and smiled, and they smiled just the same.
then He opened His arms and He called them by name.

and in that moment was joy, that only heaven can bring
those children all flew into the arms of their King
and as they lingered in the warmth of His embrace,
one small girl turned and looked at Jesus’ face.

and as if He could read all the questions she had
He gently whispered to her, “I’ll take care of mom and dad.”
then He looked down on earth, the world far below
He saw all of the hurt, the sorrow, and woe.

then He closed His eyes and He outstretched His hand,
“Let My power and presence re-enter this land!”
“may this country be delivered from the hands of fools”
“I’m taking back my nation. I’m taking back my schools!”

then He and the children stood up without a sound.
“come now my children, let me show you around.”
excitement filled the space, some skipped and some ran.
all displaying enthusiasm that only a small child can.

and i heard Him proclaim as He walked out of sight,
“in the midst of this darkness, I AM STILL THE LIGHT.”

“11 days before Christmas” poem written by Cameo Smith of Mt. Wolf, PA

Who can help but smile and take comfort in the  thought of children storming through heaven’s gate! This poem is shared in memory of the 26 innocent lives lost on that 11th day before Christmas 2012—at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. My heart and prayers go out to all the families affected by this tragedy.

To the author of this uplifting poem, I wish to extend my heartfelt appreciation. My search for the original source has revealed only the author’s name. Please let me know if you know the original source, that I may link back. Thank You!

a Liebster Blog Award Nomination . . . for who?!?

Now then, let us continue, without further ado…
this Leibster Blog Award is hereby nominated to:

. . . drum roll please . . .

Wait… what’s that? Who did you say? Would you mind repeating that, please? Hmmm… hang on… maybe give me a minute to clean the wax out of my ears. Fine, you’re sure about this then? Well okay… if you say so, but I must be hearing things because it sounded like the one being nominated is ME?!? How can that possibly be?!?

. . . aw-shucks . . .

Seriously though, all playful teasing aside… It is an honour to be recognized for something I’ve been putting my heart into. Yes, there are times when the battle against distraction will inevitably be the cause of major delays. And yes, there are times when figuring out how this whole blogging thing works can get to feeling more like work than play. And then there are those times when I wander around wondering whether anyone really notices anyway… But then there are the cyber-smile times of huge-little supportive moments. Moments when someone online comes alongside ‘n warms your heart with a nudge of approval 🙂

Thank You KnitXpressions ❤ Thanks for filling your own blog with sweet knitting adventures ‘n fun stuff. Thanks for nominating my “Knitting With Heart” blog in the same category as your own! And thank you to all my blogful readers who have nudged me by way of comments, “likes” and follow-ship 🙂

Oh but wait, there’s more!

First of all, in order to receive this award, I am asked to reveal 11 random facts about myself… Yikes! Did you maybe just wanna click on over to the Knitting With Heart gravatar? It will link you up with my Ravelry, Craftsy and Pinterest pages. I believe you can tell a lot about a person by the pins they post, wouldn’t you agree?

Next, more specifically, there are 11 questions from the one who nominated me…
Here we go:
#1. What are you most proud of?
. . . . This year, I am pleased to have finally started this blog!
#2. What makes you happy?
. . . . It doesn’t take much to make me happy. Kindness toward others always makes my heart smile.
#3. What is your most prized possession?
. . . . Love… because life apart from love would be empty worthlessness.
#4. What are you afraid of?
. . . . Pretty much any creepy crawly thing, especially in the dark 😛
#5. Why do you blog?
. . . . To tell my tales of yarn!
#6. How would you describe your style?
. . . . Waste not, want not… I love to make/upcycle something from bits of nothing.
#7. What are you most grateful for?
. . . . God’s gift of eternal life through the life-death-resurrection of Jesus Christ.
#8. What is the best book you have ever read?
. . . . The book of Psalms from the Bible.
#9. What food do you hate?
. . . . Pears. They’re pretty to look at, but taste yucky to me!!!
#10. What is your favorite “guilty pleasure” aka “super dorky” song?
. . . . Truth be told, I must admit to being a fan of the BBC’s “Mister Maker” TV show… which I first discovered quite by accident, while watching TV with my toddler nephew… true story!
#11. What is your favorite holiday?
