Season’s greetings, Everyone!

Ohhh boy… the WP snowfall has begun, Thanksgiving on both sides of the 49th parallel are done and it’s less than a month ’til Christmas! My thankful heart better kick into gear or today’s “Thankful Thursday” post will be late, too…

The past few years have been rough. Yet through it all, we’ve trusted God (and by “God” I’m talking about Jesus) to provide for our needs. Personal plans are always falling short. But today, I’m especially thankful for His revival of my ol’ iMac… Yup, back again after about 10 days of dead silence in the wake of my 200th blog post… phewww!!!

I think God allows troubles because in His omniscient wisdom He knows troubles lead to thinking—and thinking leads to thanking ❤ For instance, I’m thinking my ol’ iMac can’t last much longer. The internal HD is shot (sighhh… lost tons of summer photos, ‘though that’s my own fault for not saving them before the crash), so it’s hooked up to run (more slowly) via an old external HD form of life support :-/ Still, all this thinking lifts my heavy heartfelt thoughts in thanksgiving toward Heaven for The Lord’s faithful provision—gotta ❤ how that works!

Beyond thankful, actually, for this umpteenth chance at renewed focus on my original knitting goal! That goal is to prepare as many proper layouts as possible for the many half-prepped designs God has heartily inspired me to write. SO many half-done prototypes, but it’ll sure feel good to finally format them into PDFs for SALE! Lord willing, I’ll finish the task … before… y’know… silence strikes again!

Yay… one pattern up for sale!
Slowly yet surely, stitch by stitch and step-by-step 🙂 ❤

How big is this problem on a scale of one to God?

my 200th blog post 💜 show’s over… hooray!!!

keyboard with hand-knit birdie/flowersiMac with June backyard in bloomkeyboard with hand-knit birdie/flowersHello & Welcome to my “curtain call” episode for seasons 1 & 2 of the KWH iPad Show! Today’s feature is the one thing my heart’s been longing to write for the longest time… my iMac is BACK!!! 🙂

Seasons come and go, and now November has us blanketed in snOw! But the story behind today’s post began way back in the spring of 2014, when for 6 solid weeks my iMac fell comatose. Question then was whether to fold or pick up my iPad and go with the flow?!? Choosing the latter allowed this blog to grow and also set my heart to overflow!

Then one year later (nearly to the day), another fork split my blogful way when that sleepy ol’ iMac of mine died again!!! We were sure it was gone for good, this time :-/ Still, we kept trying to restart it. And for 2+ years, the iPad said hello, while the ol’ iMac had become a photo prop for “the show”… Good thing too ’cause those pics kept us from depositing it at the recycle depot 🙂

Finally lo and behold in June 2017 after this post, we gave it one.more.try and my iMac said a bright-eyed hello!!! Thank You Jesus for hearing my prayers and answering with a keen sense of heavenly humour by “replacing” my ol’ iMac with none other than my ol’ iMac… HA! 😛 Definitely a bright spot amidst our crumbling-grumbling world. And what a relief to be loosed from my iMac’s merry-go-round ❤ Indeed, it took several days before I could pick my jaw up off the ground! 😉

So for today’s 200th blog post, I’m celebrating God’s earthly provision ❤ For it is His provision that has enabled me to knit this whole mess into 8 + 85 KWH iPad Show posts PLUS welcome 1,000+ fresh faces into blogful followship PLUS keep my sanity!

And to all of you dear readers…
my heartfelt appreciation for your hearty support and encouragement along the way! ❤

the KWH iPad Show #30 💜 November snOw

NovemberSnow-back

frowning Mac computer

.
Hello & Welcome
to my 30th episode of the
KWH iPad Show!

Today’s feature is the season’s first snowfall…
as seen through the eye of my iPad 🙂

iMac at first snowNovemberSnow-back<br />

Hey there…
We’ve got snow!

Yup…
It’s that snowy time of the year once again, here at the 53rd parallel north on the Canadian prairies. And awe shucks, I haven’t even blogged about my summer or autumn photos… yet!

This year’s first foot of flakey blanketing white fluff arrived Monday morning and continued to fall hard for us until Tuesday afternoon. It’s our first real snowfall since “snow angel” neighbour Randy moved away. And while my husband’s HPP medication is definitely showing signs of healing ((( yay, God heard and is answering our prayers!!! ))) he’s still on crutches. So, this 2015/16 season of snow shovelling is in my hands, which is totally okay. After these past few years of not having to shovel, my nimble knitting muscles are about due for a workout anyway 😉

The first snowfall is always the prettiest. Yet these (now less than 8 hours) short days leading up to winter solstice can be a challenge, when trying to capture glimmers of glistening fresh snowy magic. And so, my trusty iPad and I have been keeping one eye on the sky and a finger on the camera trigger!

Forecasters have predicted we’ll have another winter like last year… And that sounds good to me, since last year was mild! Whatever the case, I’m sure the snow will stick around until mid-to-late April—just like it always does :-/ 🙂 ❤

Hello & Welcome
to my 24th episode of the
KWH iPad Show!

Today’s feature is Thanksgiving and
a few things that I’m thankful for 🙂

.

.
This weekend is
“Thanksgiving” in Canada!

One day of thanks is good…
One 3-day long-weekend is grand…
But with millions of moments and
cherished memories along life’s way…
I’d say the calendar overflows with
an abundance of joy to fill our hearts
with thankfulness on ANY given day!
This is true, even on a “bad” day!
Wouldn’t you say?
Now looking at this photo of my ol’ iMac
that died 6 months ago, I’m ever-thankful
for my iPad that has kept me blogging
all these months—
just you, me & my iPad

So this year…

I’m thankful for my husband’s precious prescription of HPP medicine and the doctors/researchers who worked all these years to give us hope for a healthier tomorrow! Plus, so thankful we could visit family en route to picking up the first month’s prescription! 🙂 ❤
&
I’m thankful to live in a peaceful nation where individual rights for freedom of speech, politics and religion are valued, respected and encouraged!
&
I’m thankful for unobstructed
sunset views from our own backyard!
&
I’m thankful for YOU ❤
This blog would be a lonely cyber-place
without all of you guys stopping by!

5 Things About My Future:

1.  I will replace my iMac!
—- Now 5 months, since my iMac died and left
—- just you, me & my iPad to continue the blog :-/
2.  I will find the bottom of my inbox
—- … and catch up with the wonderful blogs
—- that I’ve signed-up to follow—or die trying!!!
3.  I will buckle-down and create
—- an “about” page for this blog
!
4.  I will expand my social-savvy skills 🙂
—- … learn how to make better use of my existing
—- … social networking sites: Ravelry, Craftsy, Facebook
—- … broaden my social net to include:
—- … twitter, +google, instagram and Etsy, etc.
5.  I will publish more knitting projects/patterns!
—- Slowly but surely, my ever-growing collection of
—- original designs shall be perfected and made public!

At this point, future-cast #1 is anybody’s guess. Items #3-4-5 depend on #1, due to photos/info stored on my iMac’s currently inaccessible hard drive. Then there’s #2, which is just plain old insurmountable :-/ Yep, this iPad blogging life is increasingly cramped. But really, all I need is one more day to take one more step, plant one more seed, stitch one more stitch… And hopefully, my virtual garden will grow 🙂

the KWH iPad Show #19 💜 friendly fibre & neighbourly farewell

frowning Mac computer

Hello & Welcome
to my 19th episode of the
KWH iPad Show!

Today’s feature is fibre-friendly
fondness for neighbourly kindness 🙂

.

knitting, needles & yarn from Sylvia

Hey… remember a few weeks ago, when our neighbour surprised me with a bagful of assorted yarn? Well, now look!

Another neighbour (an especially friendly clerk from our local Safeway store) has knit a red vest/slipper set and packed it in a canvas “Safeway” shopping bag with 3 pairs of 5 mm straight knitting needles, plus 3 big balls of gold/pink fuzzy-tufty fashion yarn! Such a sweet surprise 🙂 The canvas bag will be a handy tote for knitting projects. But what would you suggest to knit with yarn like this? I’m not sure what to make from it…

Yarn is always fun 🙂

<br />

snow cherub

But then, this past weekend was moving day for our dear “snow angel” neighbour Randy. Now their house is empty and I’m feeling a bit sad. Randy cared about his neighbours and was like a staple in the community 🙂 We’re blessed to have known him and very thankful for his diligent effort to clear the snow from several neighbouring driveways, including ours. There were days when the snow just kept coming… and so did Randy—frequently ploughing our place 2-3 times in one day!!! The weather was harsh, but Randy’s heart was warm. He knew hubby was on crutches and I’d be the one shovelling. So he definitely helped make our winters more bearable! Shovelling is okay and can even be fun (fresh air, sniffling neighbourly interaction, frozen faces, etc.). But y’know it can really cut into my knitting time 😉 So instead, it was my pleasure to knit special gifts of appreciation ❤

snowy sunsets ❤ #10

Now those days are gone… But lo and behold, look what I found! A snowful blast-from-the-past video of the last time Randy ploughed our driveway (dated March 2nd, 2015). How amazing for it to have survived all these months on my iPad! Who could have know that this glimpse of him in action would bid a fitting farewell… We’ll miss seeing them around the neighbourhood, but that’s life… God bless Randy and his wife in their new home ❤

"insomnia" eye makeup design by Tal Peleg

2015 is the year of sheep… As a knitter, my sheepish thoughts revolve mainly around wool. But now LOOK at this “insomnia” design by eye-makeup artisan extraordinaire, Tal Peleg!

Her impressive portfolio is a magically delightful sight for sore eyes—including everything from movie themes & fairy tales to cats with yarn & this wide-eyed “insomnia” sheep dream design… Spying one of these will bring twinkling visions to any onlooker’s eyes ❤ Plus, since eyes are the windows to the soul, her dramatic “eyelid curtain” scenes make sense 🙂

All in all, so far I’d say this is the
most unusual place I’ve ever found sheep!

the KWH iPad Show #15 💜 the yarnbombing flower power of “knitting guy” Bryan

frowning Mac computer

.
Hello & Welcome
to my 15th episode of the
KWH iPad Show!

Today’s feature yields the right of way
to roadside yarn bombing & brighter days 🙂

stop sign flower website

Leaf it to yarn-bombers to put
a creative stop to traffic, right?!? 🙂

Having seen photos of this leafy stop sign hundreds of times online, I finally stopped to dig up its original source.

It’s called the “Stop Sign Flower designed by Bryan aka “knitting guy” in California, between 2011-2012. The stop sign street art eventually bloomed into a Clairmont neighbourhood bouquet of 100 signs! Bryan, with a little help from his yarnbombing friends, “planted” the stop sign flowers… one traffic-stopping corner at a time 🙂 And that’s how the stop sign flower garden flourished, until city officials put a stop to the fibrously fun floral foliage 😦 Perhaps you were there to stop and “smell” the signs in person?

DIY instructions are posted at Bryan’s website, along with photos from others who have made stop sign flowers in their own cities. Watch news video or read local media links  for more info.

Yarnbombing is a public art form. Somewhat similar to vandalism, but in a more community-minded, beautification effort sort of way. Yarnbombers enjoy creating fibrous cozies for virtually any-shaped stationary surface. The yarny street art is generally well-received by the public’s warm ‘n fuzzy heart 🙂

Here are a few more roadside yarn-bombing photos, which I’ve already shared on my Knitting With Heart facebook page. And here’s hoping that the next time you’re stuck in traffic—looking for a sign—you’ll have the good fortune of driving along the likes of these creative road sign designs!

the KWH iPad Show #14 💜 100 days and counting…

frowning Mac computer

.
Hello & Welcome
to my 14th episode of the
KWH iPad Show!

Today’s feature is a reflective
milestone of the past 100 days…
with just you, me & my iPad 🙂

Photo of my iMac's blogful room with a view.

How’s your summer so far? Our drought-dried region finally got a break from the sun for a full day of rain 🙂 and I suddenly realized that I’ve gone a full 100+ days without my iMac… WOW… never thought I’d last 100 days!!! This photo of my iMac’s room with a view marks the milestone. But awe… so sad to see my poor ol’ iMac sitting all alone where we used to blog together for hours-on-end every day… until my iMac died on April 7th 😦 Now it’s just you, me & my iPad.

These days, I blog from any room in the house—including outside 🙂 Do you blog from a tablet or phone? I’m fairly used to it by now, but sure do miss my iMac :-/ Even with the freedom to move around, this “iPad sized” space can feel quite cramped, tedious and increasingly disorganized. Thank Goodness for the external keyboard, which has been a real sanity-saver! I’m also glad this happened during the long/inspiring days of summer, rather than the short/cold/dark days of winter.

Anyhoo…

100 days down and hopefully fewer than 100 days to go! One way or another, we’re 100 days closer to iMac replacement (whenever that’ll be) than before. Just gotta keep blogging for as long as it takes, and hope the iPad lasts! So thanks for tuning-in to this 18th “episode” (including 4 reblogs) for Season 2 of the KWH iPad Show!!! I’m really glad you’re here 🙂

the KWH iPad Show #12 💜 Lily for a Day

frowning Mac computer

.
Hello & Welcome
to my 12th episode of the
KWH iPad Show!

Today’s feature is the first daylily bloom
from our front yard garden bouquet 🙂

.

pink daylily

Hey everyone! … Meet our first daylily of the year 🙂 Isn’t she lovely? Today’s photos are technically the season’s third bloom (all pink). But with a name like daylily… well… Who’s counting anyway, right?!?

We have three daylily plants in our front garden—pink, peach and purple. At least that’s how I remember it, since it’s been a while and all my daylily photos from last year are currently stuck (hopefully safely stuck) on my iMac-less hard drive :-/ I’d hoped to post photos of those, but didn’t make it in time before my iMac quit. Last year’s first daylily blooms were peach and are posted here. Wow… this year’s garden is way ahead of last year! Perhaps next year will be ripe for the purple plant to bloom first? Let’s get together here again next summer to find out! 🙂

Anyway, there’s something festive about the first flowers of the season! Now at the risk of boring you, please indulge me whilst I “make like a squirrel” and pack my knitting blog with a few flowering summer photos—in preparation for the flowerless months ahead 🙂

the KWH iPad Show #11 💜 summer solstice sunset

summer solstice sunset 2015

.
Hello & Welcome
to my 11th episode of the
KWH iPad Show!

Today’s feature is our summer solstice sunset …
sunrise 5:06 am 🙂 sunset 10:06 pm
… missin’ my iMac, but luvin’ the 17-hour days!

.

summer solstice sunset at the 53rd parallel north in Alberta Canada

Click photo to view my
summer solstice 2014
blog post 🙂

My favourite thing about living this far north is summer solstice and the extra-long days that go with it! That “other” solstice will have us on the flip side soon enough… But these days, especially with the above seasonal temperatures we’ve been having, it’s just so GOOD to enjoy being outside watching glowing skies finally dim around 11 pm 🙂 That’s my idea of a summertime thrill!

Catching a glimpse of the summer solstice sunrise, on the other hand, is more rare… I’ll sometimes manage to wake up in time to see the sky already beginning to brighten by 4:00 am. But then I lay down for a moment, whilst the sun rises to the peak of our neighbour’s roof… And awe shucks, the moment passes me by again! :-/

Last year’s summer solstice was extra great, for me. That’s when my iMac finally got resuscitated, after a month and a half on the fritz 🙂  Now again, since directly following this post in early April of this year, my iMac has been gone for good :-/ But the blog must go on! And my trusty iPad has been a real lifesaver for that!!!

Thanks for joining me in my iPad-photo solstice celebration of God’s glorious sun setting skies on the longest day of the year. How did you enjoy your summer solstice?

Our weather forecast—fahrenheit or celcius—for the
first week of summer is looking mighty fine 😀
Wish you were here!

See how the video is panned to the far left? That’s where our winter solstice
sun shall set 6 months from now—between the last 2 clumps of taller trees.

the KWH iPad Show #7 💜 my birthday yarn stash

frowning Mac computer

.
Hello & Welcome
to my 7th episode of the
KWH iPad Show!

Today’s feature is the frill of the yarn . . .
which I’ve draped dreamily to decorate the
late-to-be-leafy trees in our backyard 🙂

Last month, my birthday heart’s desire was for another yarn-filled year with hubby ♥ But then my iMac died… quickly dashing any yarn stashing I’d planned 😦 Ohhh, but have I told you lately how he loves me?

May long-weekend foliage

He loves me SO much that…

On April 29th, one day before my 15% off birthday discount voucher from Herrschners was due to expire, he actually reminded and encouraged me to use the coupon to buy MORE yarn! Yup, you read that correctly 😉 More yarn, after all the years I’ve spent stretching our home’s yarn stashing capacity. That’s love, I say… true love! And so, to Herrschners I went!

My target was $150.00, since that amount seems the best deal for shipping. It was delivered in time for the May (aka Victoria Day) long weekend, when our trees were still leafless and bare. So dressing the trees in frilly yarn was good yarn bombing fun 😉 Now a week later, they are fully-dressed in foliage and the yarn is stashed back inside!

boxed birthday yarn stash from Herrschners

My birthday yarn stash box includes:

Sundance Chantilly Frill yarn 3-pack
—> 3 balls each onyx/fantasy
Northlands Notion wool yarn 5-pack
—> 5 balls each black/denim/berry/olive/putty
Luminous Assortment 10-pack
—> 3 balls each emerald/lipstick
—> 2 balls each ice/frost
Northlands Cavern Multis yarn
—> 1 ball spectra
Dimensions: Learn Needle Felting Kit
Brass Findings Starter Kit
Luxite Double End Crochet Hook size Q-17
Hearts Candy Mold
Plus, yet another 10% off voucher
for my next Herrschners order 🙂

NOTE: I am simply a customer writing this of my own accord—not affiliated with Herrschners in any way.

In addition to yarn, I’m so glad to finally get my hands on a few crafty tools that have been on my “list” for a while. Inspiration for the heart candy mold came from reading  this post by Janice at TSB 🙂 And with approximate yarn sale savings of $250 + vouchers ($375 according to SRP), I’m pretty pleased with my birthday yarn stash purchase… totalling $139.73 shipping/taxes included 🙂

“Five stories, five photos” #1

Hey there everyone! After this week’s “victorian lamb cake” reblog-turned-blog-post kerfuffle, I needed to give the ol’ reblogging thing a re-try. So here is our first dandelion of the year, together with a pretty little sentiment about dandelions from “Wisher” at Pretty Little Things in a Box 🙂 As well, it ties-in with my next fun post about backyard yarn bombing… And sheep like to eat dandelions too, right?!?

Now if you’ll excuse me a moment…
I’ll be outside plucking wishes 😉

Enjoy! 🙂 ♥ ❤

Pretty Little Things In A Box

Hello friends and readers,

Hope your weekend had gone by well… I’ve been kept busy with craft classes to teach and to be honest, I’ve not had any free time on hand to craft lately. Over at Claire’s Blog, she’s been tagged for 5 stories, 5 photos, and I’ve been nominated for it. I think is fun to get tagged and write something different for the blog for a while. Something not so “crafty”.

The rules of this tag are simple:
“Post a photo each day for five consecutive days and attach a story to the photo. It can be fiction or non-fiction, a poem or a short paragraph and each day nominate another blogger for the challenge”

My first photo for the tag:

from samsung phone 008

“When you look though a field of Dandelions,
you can either see a hundred weeds
or a thousand wishes”

the KWH iPad Show #4 💜 snow spun in the sun!

frowning Mac computer

.

Hello & Welcome
to my 4th episode of the

KWH iPad Show!

Today’s feature is a mix of fresh snow,
snuggled with a splinter of drop spindling.

What a difference a day or two… or even an hour or two… can make!

Around here, early to mid spring tends to be dominated by the 4-letter word “wind” 😛 And after 6 years, I’ve noticed that the snow barely melts before the winds pick up. This year, we caught a break when the snow melted early. Now finally, the wind appears to be calming down enough to take my spinning outside.

spintered spindle

duct taped spindle

Tuesday was a fairly breezy day for drop spindling outside. But gosh yarn it… the day was warm and I really wanted to spin newspaper yarn in the sunshine! As well, I’d mended the splintered stem of my wooden drop spindle. (Yup… first my iMac, then my drop spindle… What’s going to break next?!?) And the duct taped “fix” needed to be taken for a test spin! The duct tape worked like a charm, while a wild gust of wind whipped my spin-erfully experimental spool of video tape into a frenzied mess. And with that, my spun in the sun became more of an untangling mission :-/

So like any good blogger, I ran for my trusty iPad in hopes of capturing the wildness in motion. But oh well, at least I got a picture! (See first of 4 photos above).

Later that night, another 10-15 cms / 4-6″ snow storm roared across the region. By morning, we pushed back the flannel covers to discover we’d been blanketed in white… again! … sigh … This first-week-in-May snow thing is getting to be a habit. It’s enough to make you wanna cuddle-up and stay cozy inside. But then by late afternoon, it was all melted anyway. Now the shrubs/leaves are finally budding and our current forecast has me looking forward to more outdoor spinning 😀

Well… it’s been a month since my iMac died. My normally overflowing inbox is now officially in shambles and I’m missing my old blog-visitation routine. Compared to the iMac, this particular iPad-generated post has taken about a billion times longer to complete. And the constant iPad screen finger-pointing/-swiping/-pinching has led to occasionally unfortunate and unintentional deletions :-/

Yep, blogging via anything less than a full-size computer/laptop is definitely the tedious way to go. But for now, this iPad is all I’ve got. And besides, this iMac-less predicament won’t last forever. So now’s my chance to meet the challenge!

A handful of “ah ha” iPad moments have certainly saved my sanity. But without you, I’d have surely lost heart by now!

Yup, the blogging life can be like a box of chocolates—with all sorts of emotions brewing behind the scenes. It’s no good to keep emotions bottled-up, though. Nor is blogging whilst under their influence recommended. But utilizing the growing selection of WordPress online emoticons looks like a fun form of digital expression! Now just imagine how fun it would be, if these virtual knitting emoticons—by Megan & Amy at PostStitch—were really REAL? I’d knitterally ♥ ❤ ♥ that! 😀

Introducing… my Bramble❤tini Heart knitting pattern

the KWH iPad Show 💜 just you, me & my iPad

frowning Mac computer

 .

Hello  & Welcome
to another season of the
KWH iPad Show!

NOTE: some of the images in this post were
found via facebook or google images..
.

Spring weather sprang early this year! 🙂 But now my iMac has sprung a leak and died… again… It’s gone for sure, this time 😥

It happened the day after last weekend’s Easter/birthday blog post celebrations. So it’s been a topsy-turvy week. Interestingly, it was last year at this time (almost to the day), when my iMac went down for 6 weeks from April 29th until summer solstice 2014… Talk about an awkwardly ironic sense of deja vu :-/ Anyway, that’s when/why the “KWH iPad Show” was born 🙂 It’s just a way to amuse myself, while making my way through a rough blogging patch.

image

Now once again, the loss of my iMac has brought renewed purpose for the iPad. Thank Goodness for this blogful “plan B” and cyber-life-saving option! Now back to the iPad blogging board, for me… Let’s hope this season is short and sweet 😉

Replacing the ol’ iMac with a refurbished model from the Apple Online Store seems like a reasonably safe/economical solution… Unless you can suggest a better idea? It’ll only be a couple thousand bucks… which means right about now would be the perfect time to sell a couple thousand copies of my Bramble💜TINI knitting pattern, right?!? 😉 One way or another, until then… it’s just you, me & my iPad 🙂

As well, my inbox overflows at the best of times. Relying now on our ISP’s extremely basic webmail is turning that into an absolute nightmare. Please advise, if you know of a reliable, no-cost online inbox system for the iPad. Thanks!
.

Well, that’s all for this episode. Let’s wrap it up with links (starting top-down)

pretty little packages in the post ♥

unopened package from Angela aka "Wisher" at Pretty Little Things in a Box wordpress blog

hand-knit bird, nest and flowers in the snowWell here we are on a rainy Saturday in mid-July, after soaking up 30ºC+ (80ºF-90ºF) sunshine for the past few weeks straight 🙂 Sooo good! We’ve been luvin’ the steady-n-sweaty days of summer! Who needs 5-6 months per year of winter with heat like that, right?!? Truly, heat like that is our stuff of dreams! Can’t depend on the weather, though. So when the heat hits, it gets sorta tough to stay inside working on the computer 😉 How’s the weather where you are?

Today’s post is a tad late, but it’s something special that began way back in April/May…

That’s when Angela (aka “Wisher” at the Pretty Little Things in a Box wordpress blog) organized her first annual spring blog hop. I added my blog to the hop and had so much fun playing with… errr, I mean taking my hand-crafted bird’s nest and flowers outside for a backyard photo shoot amidst the melting snow 😉 Then after the blog hopping was done, Angela sent a springy “thank you” gift to each participating blogger. That was so sweet of her! Thanks again Angela  for the fun blog hop and for sending your pretty little package in the post—including: charming trinkets, ribbon embroidered tulips, tiny heart-shaped purple buttons and a flowery baggie containing light/dark purple embroidery flosses + strawberry-flavoured Kit Kat snacks… I never knew they even made strawberry Kit Kat! 🙂

Meeting new bloggers was half the fun of joining the spring blog hop. One blogger I met was Azura Chan at the Azura Chan wordpress blog. Following the spring blog hop, Azura hosted a giveaway of goodies—including: postcards, a flowery photo frame and a pink-petaled keychain… Then lucky me won the prize! Thanks again Azura  for sending your pretty little package in the post!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Note: these photos include hand-knit sample props of my BrambleTINI heart-shaped knitting pattern with upcoming heart-shaped dishcloth. Stay tuned for more about that! 🙂

Receiving these packages from Singapore and Malaysia has been such fun 🙂 Finally opening them now, after waiting so long, makes it feel a little like Christmas in July! Why did I wait so long? Well it wasn’t easy, but my iMac made me do it 😦 My iMac came to a grinding halt on April 29th and didn’t get going again until just before summer solstice!!! All the while, our camera and iPad were both full of photos—with no place to store them and free-up space to take these photos …whew… Sure glad those days are done! . . . Oh look, the rain has ended and the sun is back to its brilliant self 🙂

happy posting ♥ Jackie

53rd parallel north ♥ 17-hour summer solstice

summer solstice sunset at the 53rd parallel north in Alberta Canada

summer solstice sunset at the 53rd parallel north in Alberta Canada

Happy summer solstice everyone! I hope your summer is off to a great start 🙂 This longest day is my absolute favourite time of the year!!!

Our first day of summer was overflowing with brilliant sunshine and warm 20ºC/70ºF temperatures. It was a bit too breezy to really enjoy knitting outside. But mostly it was extra-long, measuring 17 hours of daylight 😀

Here at the 53rd parallel north on the Canadian prairies, the summer sky begins to brighten by 4:00 AM—with the solstice sunrise at 5:04 AM. Then it finally dims to darkness around 11 PM—with today’s sunset at 10:07 PM.

Totally ♥ ❤ ♥ that and wish EVERY day
could be a summer solstice day!

Here is a link where I’ve been checking out the sunrise/sunset etc times around the world.

Maxine comic: summer solstice on Saturday

Things are brightening up on the inside too. We tried hiring an IT guy, but it was my wonderfully intelligent hubby who finally resuscitated my iMac 🙂 He’s neither Mac user nor IT guy, but he’s super-smart and I always knew he could figure it out! 🙂 ♥

Now after 7 weeks stuck at the “grey screen of death”, I’m pleased to say that my iMac is slowly moving forward and getting back to normal… YAY!!! Getting a computer back to normal seems about as much fun as moving, though, since it takes time for everything to get sorted and put into place again. It’s hard to believe that this post is the first via my iMac since the end of April… yeesh! But summer is here now, and things are looking up! Methinks it’s time for blogging to take on more of a hybrid iPad/iMac style!

Wishing you summer solstice cheer ♥ Jackie

Hello there ♥ WELCOME to
the 36th day without my iMac,
here at the KWH iPad Show!

36 days and counting…
Counting and wondering where,
oh WHERE did my dear iMac go?
And when will it be back?
That’s what I’d like to know!!!

For now, thanks for coming…
Please sit back, relax

ZAGG iPad keyboard

ZAGG iPad keyboard

Hello Everyone ♥ and WELCOME to another episode of the KWH iPad Show! For anyone tuning-in for the first time, this blog is normally produced via my iMac. That is, until about half a month ago when my iMac shut down and stayed down… Ever since then, it’s been just you, me ‘n my iPad 🙂

This li’l iPad has been a true lifesaver… my “plan B” for internet and blogging access… my sanity-saving link to the outside world… and an adjustment! It feels like forever, since I’ve been clinging for dear cyber-life by the skin of my 2-finger typing skills—with my blogful existence hanging on the hinges of an iPad. It’s like living in the skeletal shadows of my usual online routine… Oh how I miss all the virtual visitation and graphical digitization! When, oh when will my iMac be back? Can/will it be resuscitated back to the computerized brain I once knew? Only one thing is for certain… The muddled mess I call my inbox(es) continually grows more inbox-i-cating by the day!

Thankfully now, there is hope… Hope from a ZAGG iPad keyboard, which recently landed smack dab in my lap 🙂

The story behind this iPad keyboard began a few months ago at my husband’s company Christmas party. There at the party, this ZAGG iPad keyboard was one of the many gifts up for grabs in the “Santa exchange” game. According to game rules, all gifts could be “stolen” twice. So naturally, I stole it from the person who had initially selected it 😉 But before I knew it, Judy the receptionist (who intended to gift it to her daughter) stole it from me … lol … And that was that. My treasured tech-toy-tool was lost forever 😦

Or was it?!?

Lo and behold, Judy’s daughter desired a different keyboard and stashed this one in the closet! So when Judy heard of my keyboard-less predicament, she opened her heart, pulled this keyboard from the cupboard and sent it home with my hubby 🙂

I love the handy case with its built-in keyboard and how it makes the iPad feel more like a laptop 🙂 It’s not the backlit keyboard model, seems to use a lot of battery and has a tendency to flop over quite easily (depending on how you’re perched)… but I’ve simply been stopping the flopping by propping it up with a big ball of yarn! The compactness of the keyboard also takes a bit of getting used to, but it SURE feels great to touch actual keys again!!! Now if I could just stop reaching for my mouse 😉

Well, ‘guess that’s all for now… Thanks for tuning-in and hope you (and my iMac) will be back to see what happens next! Always something new, here at the KWH iPad Show and/or my Knitting With Heart facebook page. Hope to see you there and see you soon!

Happy keyboarding! ♥ Jackie

for the love of Sweetie♥Hearts

It’s been a whole week since I’ve seen my iMac’s smiling “Finder” face. One week filled with and dominated by 2-finger typing, anxious hair-pulling moments of frustration, very little inbox upkeep and oodles of googles—technically inclined google searches guaranteed to cause drowsiness… So yeah, I miss my iMac 😦 How about you? Has your normal computing world ever been yanked from under you?

Then today (well actually it was more like the day before yesterday, seeing as I’m progressing at slowmo iPad blogging speed), I was sitting here trying to motivate myself toward some form of creative focus within this newfound iPad blogging world… and remembered that this is/was an anniversary day!

That’s right, it’s the second year anniversary since my Sweetie♥KNIT♥Heart FREE knitting pattern made its world-wide debut on this blog 🙂 Back then, my newbie blogful self was a nervous wreck over every single keystroke. Getting this first heart-shaped pattern posted in time for my loving husband’s birthday (May 5th) was my main goal. And ever since then, there’s been barely a day when the Sweetie♥KNIT♥Heart has not been downloaded somewhere in the world via this KWH blog, Ravelry or Craftsy 🙂

So, BIG Thank You ♥ to everyone for sharing/liking/networking links from my blog! It’s always a thrill to find my designs shared on other blogs, online pattern directories, and social networking sites! 🙂 I’m sure to have missed many of these, but have thoroughly enjoyed virtual meet-ups with all the links I did manage to locate. Please do me a favour and let me know if you’ve cared to share my links somewhere—because I’d love to meet you and know you’re there! ♥

On that note, this second episode of the KWH iPad Show is a wrap. It only took me a few days and a couple of fingers to type/edit this post of 300 or so words 😛 The next episode will be less tedious, hopefully… But for now this is done 🙂 Always good to be “doing”, but getting “done” is much better!

Happy Computing ♥ Jackie
