Hello & Welcome to my 58th episode of the KWH iPad Show! Today’s feature is a snowy bit of fibrous fun 😍

Oh how I love to watch snow melt—especially after being surrounded by it since November. Friday’s mild temperatures melted a lot of snow, so I grabbed a few colourful props and ran outside to enjoy the show! Yup… gotta ❤ a good ol’ fibrously fun backyard yarn-bombing photo shoot 🙂 Later that night, a storm blew into town and re-blanketed us in several inches of white :-/ But oh well, it was fun while it lasted…

The golfing clown is a Jean Greenhow design. This half-knitted WIP of mine has been cooped up in the back of my yarn closet for … gulp … years! Really wanna/oughta/gotta get around to finishing that guy! Fun to take him out to play in the snow, though! 😉 Want to try this at home? M’ Snow Lady’s face uses a pink Bramble❤️TINI for her nose and 2 green Hearty Links with Felted Loops for eyes and mouth 🙂

#50 💜 the blog days of summer

the KWH iPad Show logo

the blog days of summer_8the blog days of summer animated GIFhttps://knittingwithheart.files.wordpress.com/2016/01/image6.jpeg

Hello & Welcome to my 50th episode of the KWH iPad Show! Today’s feature is my latest crazy-hair-brained technique for beating the blogful summertime heat 🙂

Well here we are, mid-way through August and the sounds of Canadian Geese are becomng more frequent—signalling the beginning of the end to our favourite season :-/ All in all, it’s been a good summer. The snow melted extra-early 🙂 Then it rained more often than not 😦 And now, I’ve finally discovered the secret to my future outdoor summer blogging success!

The iPad makes it easy to bring blogging outdoors, of course. But gosh-yarn-it… that glass screen reflects EVERYthing!!! And that makes reading and/or snapping pics in the sunshine quite difficult—especially for me, being visually impaired due to RP :-/

Hopefully someday, Apple will find a way to fix that glaring issue. Until then, I’ve taken drastic draping measures into my own hands and pulled the non-wool sheet over my head and iPad… LoL… ’cause y’know… 1-2 of our neighbours might not yet think I’m cuckoo 😉 But hey… not so nuts, since I got to edit all these photos AND enjoy an afternoon of fresh air 🙂 Plus now, I won’t need to choose between catching up with all my favourite blogs or enjoying the sunshine!  ❤

Do try this at home…
I highly recommend it!

So here in my photos… I’m all set for a blogfully constructive day in the sunshine with my iPad, charger/extension cord, earphones, fitted cotton sheet (elastic around the back of the head helps hold it in place if/when the wind blows) and water-filled hazelnut coffee creamer container—for a sprinkling sip o’ fun in the sun 🙂

Special thanks to Ralph at Bluefish Way, for his clear how-to instruction post filled with ideas to create your own animated GIF-packs 🙂 This first animated .gif of mine was really easy… I may need to make more!

#49 💜 How d’ya “like” that?!?

Sweetie Knit Heart free knitting patterntop 10 posts at Knitting With Heart blog

Hello & Welcome to my 49th episode of the KWH iPad Show! Today’s feature is a Sweetie♥Heart post that I hope you’ll like 🙂

Hey everyone 🙋😘😍 Well, a funny thing happened on my way back from last week’s “blog fog” post

But first, big THANKS for all your visits, comments, shares and likes to any of my posts ❤ Just checked the stats and my humble KWH blog has now passed 40k views… woohoo 🙂 Plus, it’s only the beginning of August and your collective likability has already exceeded the total number of “likes” from last year! Yup, a whole lotta liking going on—including last year’s “likes” blowing the top off the previous year’s “likes” 🙂 Wow… gotta say, I like what you did there 😉 You’re all on my rather lengthy shortlist of blogs to “like” ‘n LoL asap!

Okay, so getting back to my way back from the blog fog… A quick scroll to the bottom of this blog leads to a list of my top 10 posts. For months, this list has been shared equally between reblogged posts and posts I’ve personally composed. Now for the first time in the history of this blog, my Sweetie♥Heart tiny free knitting pattern/poem post has been bumped from its usual #1 spot on this list… AND it’s a reblogged post that bumped it!!! …wOw… How did that happen?!? Oh well, ‘guess my blogful head really was lost in a fog :-/ Plus, that reblog (pic of a sweet little girl sittin’ & knittin’ with her kitten) now holds the honour of being the first post to break the 100 “likes” mark… double-wOw WoW!

So anyhoo… please feel free to click the pic and check it out for yourself. As reblogfully amazing as this is, I’d sure like my own post to be the top “like” … just sayin’ 😉 I reckon we’d all like that! 🙂

Hello & Welcome to my 36th episode of the KWH iPad Show! Today is a friendly day of cyber-fibre fun, in honour of our friend Ursula’s birthday ❤

Ursula is our neighbour. It’s always fun when we get together… But even when we can’t, good ol’ facebook bridges the smiles across the miles 🙂

In honour of this special day, I thought it’d be fun to greet her with a blog post to hightlight some of the crack-me-up fun photos she posts on my fb page ’cause they make her think of… me!

LoLoLoL ❤ Ursula
Happy birthday, to you!

Warning:  some of these fibrous images

may be best viewed with eyes closed 😉

And please… don’t get any ideas

Or just share photos, if you do!!!

I totally ❤ purple!!!
But how much do I love yarn?
well…

At first glance, this snowful foliage photo by Paul Militaru looked to me like a sparkling skein of yarn! I’m still LoL-ing about that, since Paul’s portfolio is primarily places and scenic spaces! … hmmm … Could this be a sign that I am simply “snow tired” ?!? 😉 ♥ Jackie

the KWH iPad Show #34 💜 crafty Christmas catch-up for a cheery New Year!

Hello & Welcome
to my 34th episode of the
KWH iPad Show!

Today’s feature is our decorated staircase…
crafted over Christmas &
cheering-in the New Year 🙂

Happy New Year’s Eve, everyone!

stitch markers and crochet snowflakes from Angela

me at the Apple Store

Well here we are, one week past Christmas and finally posting my decorated staircase … LoL … Honestly, some people really ought to get their Christmas knitting act together and start stitching as soon as the stores start their seasonal displays!!! Ah well, it’s all fun and I’m not feeling a bit foolish for posting ’em late 😉 Far better to be squeeking-in with this post before the stroke of New Year’s, than suffer the hang-over of waiting ’til next year!

Anyhoo…

This year’s Christmas staircase theme colours include: red, green and white with spindles wrapped in icy blue eyelash yarn. The tree is one ball each of fleece/eyelash yarn. The large heart on the tree is red eyelash yarn…. Gotta say, I ❤ that eyelash yarn! These were part of my birthday yarn stash purchase from Herrschners. The candles are red crochet (wedding gift) doilies, with flames knit of fancy-fluffy-puffy golden yarn from a friend. The various garlands are knit from Bernat Boa, Lily Crafter’s Cotton (discontinued) and Bernat Christmas Tinsel worsted cotton… Ooooh, plus one furry strip of Baby Monkey ultra-soft yarn… Adorning tree ornaments include: 1 green wool Heartfelted Bramble♥tini Loop Ornament + 2 red/white fleece Sweetie♥Knit♥Hearts + 5 green wool Hearty Links with Felted Loops + 2 i-Cord candy canes. The tree topper ribbon is from an embellished Ferrero Rocher gift pack. That white loopy thing below the ribbon is just me playing with plarn (plastic yarn)—spun on my drop spindle.

And finally… the lovely crochet snowflakes and charmed stitch markers (also pictured separately from last year’s post) were gifted to me last Christmas from Angela aka “Wish I Were Stitching” WP blog… Thanks again, Angela ❤

Then today, technically ending the year off right, we popped into our nearest Apple Store and bought a much needed flash drive… It’s charging now! And am I ever looking forward to unloading my overstuffed iPad of nearly 9 months worth of blogging photos!!!

Merry Christmas Morning,

everyone!

For the past couple of years—see Christmas Day 2013 & 2014—I’ve been decorating our staircase (in lieu of the Christmas tree we don’t have), then posting photos of my festive yarn bombing decor to the blog on Christmas Day 🙂

That tradition continues this year, although it is running a bit late… :-/ I’ll have photos for my next blog post!

Ah well, inspiration can sometimes take time… while the calendar waits for no one. Add to that my “procraftinator” tendencies and you get yarnful knotty-ness that will soon be nice 🙂

Every year it’s the same thing…
all I ever really want for Christmas
… is YOU 🙂

Well to be honest, I also really want
… more skeins from EWE 😉

And after 3/4 year blogging
with just you, me & my iPad
It comes as no surprise that
what I’d also really want is to
finally replace my ol’ iMac !!!

But when it comes right down to it,
all I really ever want for Christmas is
to be of good cheer, in good health
and know family goodness is near 🙂

Now 3 months since beginning
treatment for my husband’s HPP,
we thank God for hearing our prayers
and can whole-heartedly say that
better
health is progressing our way 🙂

Plus… there is one fine family benefit,
which helps compensate for those
periodic plane rides to see doctors…
That’s because hubby gets to see his
sisters who live nearby those doctors…
Sweet sisters who send him home with
love
and homemade family goodness

Today’s feature is the sheepish reason
behind last week’s emergency landing for
Singapore Airlines flight SQ7108 :-/

.

HuffPost Weird News - No Evidence Farting Livestock Caused Emergency Landing, Airline Says - article

Okay, so what’s all this fuss about flatulence?
Well apparently, a group of 2,186 Aussie sheep walked aboard a plane and farts began to fly! Smoke alarms went off and the plane made an emergency landing in Bali. Can ewe believe it?!? Awkward!!! Imagine the embarrassing headlines, had that been 2,186 of us … lol … Talk about the haunting effects of flaunting one’s flatulence… phew! So anyway, I’m sure this flock will feel sheepish for a while yet! 😉 Click photo to read HuffPost article.

It seems there is a “day” for everything, these days! And on Sunday this weekend, it was  “World Pasta Day“. Did you celebrate pasta in some way?

Pasta Party crochet pattern by Normalynn Hood

Did you know there are over 600 shapes of pasta? wOw… +600!!! I’m thinking any shape will do for most of us—as long as it tastes good… Anyone who enjoys crafting with pasta will care more about its shape/detail… Especially those talented cooks who like to make homemade pasta from scratch! Speaking of which… Here is a recipe for Fresh “Knitting Needle” Pasta with Goat Sauce—from My Calabria by Rosetta Costantino and Janet Fletcher. Recipe includes tips for using an actual knitting needle in the traditional pasta-making technique!

Plus of course, pasta’s long shelf life makes it a good choice for food hampers/donations 🙂

How to: The “Fibre Sandwich” Game!

image

It’s always lunchtime somewhere, right?!? 😉 So here’s Rosie from Ribbing Yarns with a fresh spin on the “same old” sandwich.

Simply add a few handfuls of yarny loose handspun ends… and voilà! The most fibrously fun-loving feast for the yarn diet of all!

Serve this on a platter at your next gathering with spinning friends 🙂 ♥ Jackie

Ribbing Yarns

Last weekend I joined some of the other lovely and skilled spinners from the “Danske Spindere” group on Ravelry- a local group here in Copenhagen- for a day of spinning, chatting, and co-creating “Fibre Sandwiches”. Thankfully this wasn’t a misunderstood offering for the potluck lunch (which was delicious), but an inspiring and creative game with spinning fibres. It was taught to the group at the last meetup by Bev Tilson (morecraft on Ravelry) who runs the “New Zealand Hermit Sheep” group. Incidentally, if you’re wondering what a New Zealand hermit sheep is, you can read the amazing backstory on the group’s Ravelry page.

The fibre sandwich is a great idea for using up small amounts of fibre. You need at least one spinning-mad friend to make it fun and interesting, though 🙂 Each spinner just needs to bring along a small amount of fibre (25-50g), ideally in a selection of…

the KWH iPad Show #7 💜 my birthday yarn stash

frowning Mac computer

.
Hello & Welcome
to my 7th episode of the
KWH iPad Show!

Today’s feature is the frill of the yarn . . .
which I’ve draped dreamily to decorate the
late-to-be-leafy trees in our backyard 🙂

Last month, my birthday heart’s desire was for another yarn-filled year with hubby ♥ But then my iMac died… quickly dashing any yarn stashing I’d planned 😦 Ohhh, but have I told you lately how he loves me?

May long-weekend foliage

He loves me SO much that…

On April 29th, one day before my 15% off birthday discount voucher from Herrschners was due to expire, he actually reminded and encouraged me to use the coupon to buy MORE yarn! Yup, you read that correctly 😉 More yarn, after all the years I’ve spent stretching our home’s yarn stashing capacity. That’s love, I say… true love! And so, to Herrschners I went!

My target was $150.00, since that amount seems the best deal for shipping. It was delivered in time for the May (aka Victoria Day) long weekend, when our trees were still leafless and bare. So dressing the trees in frilly yarn was good yarn bombing fun 😉 Now a week later, they are fully-dressed in foliage and the yarn is stashed back inside!

boxed birthday yarn stash from Herrschners

My birthday yarn stash box includes:

Sundance Chantilly Frill yarn 3-pack
—> 3 balls each onyx/fantasy
Northlands Notion wool yarn 5-pack
—> 5 balls each black/denim/berry/olive/putty
Luminous Assortment 10-pack
—> 3 balls each emerald/lipstick
—> 2 balls each ice/frost
Northlands Cavern Multis yarn
—> 1 ball spectra
Dimensions: Learn Needle Felting Kit
Brass Findings Starter Kit
Luxite Double End Crochet Hook size Q-17
Hearts Candy Mold
Plus, yet another 10% off voucher
for my next Herrschners order 🙂

NOTE: I am simply a customer writing this of my own accord—not affiliated with Herrschners in any way.

In addition to yarn, I’m so glad to finally get my hands on a few crafty tools that have been on my “list” for a while. Inspiration for the heart candy mold came from reading  this post by Janice at TSB 🙂 And with approximate yarn sale savings of $250 + vouchers ($375 according to SRP), I’m pretty pleased with my birthday yarn stash purchase… totalling $139.73 shipping/taxes included 🙂

“Five stories, five photos” #1

Hey there everyone! After this week’s “victorian lamb cake” reblog-turned-blog-post kerfuffle, I needed to give the ol’ reblogging thing a re-try. So here is our first dandelion of the year, together with a pretty little sentiment about dandelions from “Wisher” at Pretty Little Things in a Box 🙂 As well, it ties-in with my next fun post about backyard yarn bombing… And sheep like to eat dandelions too, right?!?

Now if you’ll excuse me a moment…
I’ll be outside plucking wishes 😉

Enjoy! 🙂 ♥ ❤

Pretty Little Things In A Box

Hello friends and readers,

Hope your weekend had gone by well… I’ve been kept busy with craft classes to teach and to be honest, I’ve not had any free time on hand to craft lately. Over at Claire’s Blog, she’s been tagged for 5 stories, 5 photos, and I’ve been nominated for it. I think is fun to get tagged and write something different for the blog for a while. Something not so “crafty”.

The rules of this tag are simple:
“Post a photo each day for five consecutive days and attach a story to the photo. It can be fiction or non-fiction, a poem or a short paragraph and each day nominate another blogger for the challenge”

My first photo for the tag:

from samsung phone 008

“When you look though a field of Dandelions,
you can either see a hundred weeds
or a thousand wishes”

my 3rd year WP blog♥iversary & what I like about you!

KWH 3rd year blog-iversary

Welcome to my 3rd-year WordPress blog♥iversary… yay!!! Many THANKS to YOU for your blogful support and encouragement throughout the past 3 years! ♥ I’m a little shy, so had not planned to make this a big deal. But then WordPress called to say my blog had achieved its first 1,000 “likes” milestone… woohoo!!! Then they called again the next day, to wish my blog a happy birthday… hooray!!! Then to top it all off, Marcy and her Orples extended my party atmosphere into their own cyber-space… Fun blogging stuff, I tell ya!!!

For sure… so much fun! Yet how could
these 3 years have passed by so quickly?!?

Wanting to mark the momentous occasion,
I created this hearty festive fireworks graphic. It combines my Sweetie♥Knit♥Hearts with a separate fireworks graphic, found here.

It might not be much, but good things (such as these) come in 3’s & in small packages & to those who wait, as they say. And after 3 long years of waiting/nurturing, it’s nice to think I’ve received a small package sampling of the blogosphere’s whole. Looking back, there were 50 lovely likes during my blog’s first year. But today is a different story, with 141 likes since the start of the new year 🙂 Now, my blog is on track for its next 1,000 by the end of 2015! So what’s not to like about that!?!

NOTE:  for anyone who might be wondering… My blog features the Wordpress “like” button (located at the end of each post), plus separate “like” buttons in the comments section. These are accessible to anyone with a Gravatar account. For blog visitors who do not have their own gravatar icon, the starred rating system (located at the top of each post) offers anonymous voting 🙂

Anyhoo… so far, so good… THANKS to ALL of YOU !!!
I hope we will always share our smiles across the miles 😀
Lovin’ that visiting / reading / liking / commenting / sharing / following thing we all do ♥ Yup, that’s what I like about you!

Happy Ewe Year ♥ 2015 is the year of sheep

Happy Ewe Year ♥ 2015 is the year of sheep

Happy Ewe Year ♥ 2015 is the year of sheep

2015 is the year of the sheep/ram/goat, according to the Chinese Zodiac. Technically (as per the Lunar New Year and Spring Festival of China), this festive Year of the Sheep starts February 19, 2015 and lasts until February 7, 2016. I’m not sure what the connection is between sheep and horoscopes/astrology, but wool comes from sheep… And my nimble knitting fingers love working with wool! So the idea of dedicating an entire year to all things sheep sounds woolerful, to me 🙂

Sheep Knitting Sock clip art

And with all the “Year of Sheep 2015” graphics already on the internet, I decided to have a little fun by creating my own 🙂 Now my sweet knitterly ewe is all dressed up, after a mini Bramble♥tini make-over… including hair/mascara, colour-coordinated slippers and hearty knitting on her needles 😉 Clicking the graphic will take you to MY DESIGNS (knitting patterns also available via Ravelry and Craftsy), for any of ‘yous’ knitters who may want to knit along! The year’s colour is MARSALA PANTONE 18-1438, which is PANTONE’s colour of the year for 2015.

So here’s to the start of an extra warm ‘n fuzzy year filled with all things sheepish!
And here is this year’s iPad video of our neighbour’s fireworks from New Year’s Eve!

the Heart of Christmas ♥ hearty handknit decorations

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Wishing you a merrily heartfelt Christmas and a happily decorated staircase! We don’t have a Christmas tree. What we do have is a lot of yarn and handknit heart decorations. And since decorating the staircase was so much fun last year, I thought it might be fun to do it again this year 🙂 Hmmm… could this be the start of a new tradition?!? How many years does it take to build a tradition?

Anyway, yarn is always fun to play around with and take photos of—before and/or after it is knit up 🙂 As you may recall, these are the same backyard photo props from last week’s “deck the yard with hearts of yarn-y” post. Yup… lots of good, clean, indoor/outdoor hearty yarn-bombing fun going on around here! Stay tuned to this blog for more details on making your own hearty “how to’s” in 2015!

May your heart overflow with
love, joy, happiness and peace…
at Christmas time and
throughout the new year.

Merry Christmas! ♥ Jackie

not-so-scary halloweenie trick or treaty ♥

Well it’s that spooky halloweenie time of year again. Ghoulish horror or any form of gruesomeness is not my thing, though. Real life just seems scary enough on its own, I’d say… Might anyone agree?

All the craftiness, costumes and chocolate is the fun part, for me. Lots of chocolate! Plus costumes such as this knit dress by fashion designer Benjamin Cho. It’s a bit creepy, yet frightfully delightful! You might say it is rather boo-o-o-o-tiful 😉

Now close your eyes and try to imagine the rather boo-o-o-o-tiful Cinderella’s stylish journey home via this magical pumpkin carve-a-van… Ahhh yes, it’s like a halloweenie fairytale 🙂

One day is barely enough, though…
So I’ve been sharing yarn love links

Have you gotten in on the fun? 🙂

The following images were found somewhere via the internet…

summer’s sweet knitting tweets ❤

baby birdie on lawn chair

summer's sweet knitting tweets ❤Summer around here this year has been one gloriously sun-soaked day after another since the end of June 🙂 Just a few blips on the weather radar and that’s all!

So it’s been a great source for vitamin D, but not a great motivator for getting “inside work” done. And it feels a bit like winning the lottery, too… not that I’d have any idea what that might feel like 😉

Only the last few days have (finally?!?) cooled off a bit. But that’s okay. We’re not done with outdoor patio weather yet! And it’s about time I got down to business anyway—sorting and editing through all those billions of Niagara Peninsula photos from our vacation.

Then today, we saw this baby birdie perched upon my knitting lawn chair. Could that tweetie bird have been looking for me?!? Whatever the case, this moment has inspired me to “tweet” you a message…

Stay tuned for vacation pics (no worries, I’ve whittled them down to a couple dozen), followed by the ever-blooming daylily display. The “stitch tech” page will soon feature knitting techniques your yarn will yearn for. And the “my designs” page has now been updated with a photo slide show and quick links for easier navigation 🙂

wishing you sweet tweets this summer 🙂 ❤ Jackie

I’m leaving on a jet plane… ❤

daylily close-up

What do you love most about summer? We love the sunshine and heat. July has been packed with sweltering 30ºC  heat… and that is just the way we like it! Oh how I love summer knitting with cotton yarn… I always knit standing next to my lawn chair and sprinkling myself with cool, refreshing water 🙂

Our daylilies have begun to bloom and the plants are loaded with buds. Looks like we’ll miss most of the show, though—because we’re leaving tonight on a jet plane… We’re off to see friends and family in the Niagara region of Ontario Canada! We know we’ll be back again in about a week. But oh babe, I’ll miss you so ❤

Hope to see you sooner than that via my Knitting With Heart facebook page 🙂 I’m so glad to have squeezed this post in before taking off, since we don’t know when our iPad WiFi connections will be back again 🙂

See you soon! ❤ Jackie
