October 31st

Benjamin Cho Fall 2007 Collection

Okay, so it’s past the stroke of October… sighhh… I’ve missed the calendar mark, again. But life’s battles continue and I’m determined (come Hell or high water) to post this mixed bag o’ treats via WordPress, YouTube and facebook!

Let’s begin with Pete’s pOwerful post @ Revelation310 “Rage Against the Machine” … Oh wOw… Have you noticed how the entire world’s been spinning freakishly out of control? Here in Canada, useless Soros puppeticians bent on destroying Canada took the helm 3 yrs ago. Yup, way back when life still seemed “normal” :-/ Hope to change that in the 2019 election?!? Well anyhoo… Pete’s article makes Biblically sound sense to me. Do you agree?

Please also enjoy the bountiful harvest of posts from my blog’s fb page. Hopefully something for everyone, including stylishly crafty foodish fun and Nepal’s scariest waterfall highway!

One Hundred Percent” @ Narrow is The Way Ministries and Pastor Charles Lawson’s sermon (below) are about the afterlife… Hell is a real place and my heart’s intent is to scare the Hell out of you so that you don’t end up there! ❤

Coming up next time, I’ll finally fill you in on the project that’s been my focus apart from the blog. And of course, more of that wild ‘n wacky weather of ours 😉

Well okay… here’s a link for
my “top secret” project
🙂

Flake News! 😳😝😧🤔☃🇨🇦📢

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Hey there… How’s it snowin’, eh? 🇨🇦 It’s been snoOow long since I’ve been gone…
Nearly half a year of impromptu silence from the blog due to real life curveballs.
Yup, some heavy stuff snuffed my focus until I finally dropped the blogful ball ☹️
But through it all, I’ve learned to lean more deeply upon the LORD Jesus Christ ✝
Whatever happens… once you choose to follow Jesus, He will be your ALL and
His strength will comfort, sustain, carry and pull you through all life’s valleys ❤

By now, the Canadian geese have been squawking to and fro for weeks.
And after this week’s snow, I’m sure they’ll instinctively fly south soon
.
Time truly flies, whether or not anyone’s having fun! But how can it be
mid-September with our first snow-scape already over and done?!? 😮
Last time we saw September snow was 2014, making our wild weather
all the more normal—here at the 53rd N parallel on the Alberta prairies.

SnoOowww… hope your weather’s treating you well 😎
Fun to catch these snowful pics while they lasted, but sure
hope our summer’s still got some high temps in the tank!
Well at least it roused me from blogful hibernation, right? 😉
❤

my 200th blog post 💜 show’s over… hooray!!!

keyboard with hand-knit birdie/flowersiMac with June backyard in bloomkeyboard with hand-knit birdie/flowersHello & Welcome to my “curtain call” episode for seasons 1 & 2 of the KWH iPad Show! Today’s feature is the one thing my heart’s been longing to write for the longest time… my iMac is BACK!!! 🙂

Seasons come and go, and now November has us blanketed in snOw! But the story behind today’s post began way back in the spring of 2014, when for 6 solid weeks my iMac fell comatose. Question then was whether to fold or pick up my iPad and go with the flow?!? Choosing the latter allowed this blog to grow and also set my heart to overflow!

Then one year later (nearly to the day), another fork split my blogful way when that sleepy ol’ iMac of mine died again!!! We were sure it was gone for good, this time :-/ Still, we kept trying to restart it. And for 2+ years, the iPad said hello, while the ol’ iMac had become a photo prop for “the show”… Good thing too ’cause those pics kept us from depositing it at the recycle depot 🙂

Finally lo and behold in June 2017 after this post, we gave it one.more.try and my iMac said a bright-eyed hello!!! Thank You Jesus for hearing my prayers and answering with a keen sense of heavenly humour by “replacing” my ol’ iMac with none other than my ol’ iMac… HA! 😛 Definitely a bright spot amidst our crumbling-grumbling world. And what a relief to be loosed from my iMac’s merry-go-round ❤ Indeed, it took several days before I could pick my jaw up off the ground! 😉

So for today’s 200th blog post, I’m celebrating God’s earthly provision ❤ For it is His provision that has enabled me to knit this whole mess into 8 + 85 KWH iPad Show posts PLUS welcome 1,000+ fresh faces into blogful followship PLUS keep my sanity!

And to all of you dear readers…
my heartfelt appreciation for your hearty support and encouragement along the way! ❤

#65 💜 summer solstice… new day dawning

🔼 4th of July 2014 sunrise at 4:45 AM

Hello & Welcome to my 65th episode of the KWH iPad Show! Today’s feature is the thrill of dawn after hours of late-night summer solstice knitting ’til the crack of yawn 🙂

Keeping up with the solstice sunrise can be a challenge… Especially here at the 53rd parallel N on the Canadian prairies—where summer days and winter nights grow extra long. Well okay… winter sunrises/sunsets are easy-peasy. So every year since moving here, it’s the thrill of catching a pixelated first glimpse at summer’s dawning 17-hour solstice “magic” that rises up within my night-owl-ishly inclined inner-knitter’s heart ❤

Summer Solstice 2017…

Then last night… errr… 3:30 this morning… uhhhm… actually yesterday morning, since gently “coaxing” this post into shape has taken so long… sighhh :-/

#63 💜 a very special day in May

watermelon & roll kuchen patio picnic

Hello & Welcome to my 63rd episode of the KWH iPad Show! Today’s feature is my dear, sweet husband’s birthday—on this 5th “Cinco de Mayo” day in the 5th month of May ❤

Well it took a few tries, but our snow is finally ALL melted—again, for the 3rd time this season!!! Our trees are barely budding. Red-Winged Blackbirds have returned for another season of sweet summertime tweets. Plus… mid-to-high 20’s ºC temperatures (far preferred over the frozen fluff delivered the morning of my birthday) have bloomed just in time to celebrate hubby’s summer luvin’ personality ❤

Ohhh it’s SO good to finally throw back the flannel, open up the windows, uncover the patio furniture and go outdoors to enjoy everything from breakfast to dinner, yard work and all things crafty!

Our first (pic-less) patio picnic of 2017 was a menu of pork chops with roasted carrots and potatoes ❤ Today’s photo feast of mouth-waterMELONing roll kuchen (recipe posted here) was actually our last patio picnic from late-August 2016. Yup… that’s how long it’s been since our weather’s felt palatable for outdoor dining :-/ And yes, I do like playin’ with my food… gotta ❤ bits of hearty foodish-ness on a plate… LoL 😉 🙂

#61 💜 the snow came back…🙀😿😻…but then all melted the very same day!

Hello & Welcome to my 61st episode of the KWH iPad Show! Today’s feature is a tangled bit of freshly melted April snow, kitty cats and another blogging milestone 🙂

Want to skip straight to cake? Check out Chef Hurricane’s video below, featuring his how-to for decorating your own Yarn Ball Kitty Cake!

And how ’bout that snow, eh? Yup, our normally wacky weather struck again on April 3rd… SnoOow sweet of spring to gift me this wintery surprise on my birthday! Later that afternoon, my wish came true when it all melted 🙂

April 7th also marked 2 full years since my iMac died and left the blogging to just you, me & my iPad… That’s actually how this whole “KWH iPad Show” thing began, in case you were wondering. An “about” page would be a good place to explain that. I really wanna-oughta- gotta buckle down and do that :-/

Anyhoo, the “KWH iPad Show” is just my way of amusing myself until we can finally replace my old iMac. Who could ever have imagined the show would last 2 years (and counting)… wOw!!! I’m thrilled to know you’re all here and that I didn’t just curl up in a blogless corner, somewhere ❤

#60 💜 March snow on a beautiful day

Hello & Welcome to my 60th episode of the KWH iPad Show! Today’s feature is the beauty of our (now melted) March snow-scape 🙂

March was (as always) a wild month of snow, blue skies and beautiful days. It had us dressing for everything from ferocious cold to summery shorts/T-shirt weather. Yup… shorts in March, here at the 53rd parallel N on the Canadian prairies! ❤ It entered like a lamb and inspired me to clown around 😉 But then (from March 7-9), it roared like a lion and raised our snowbanks to waist-height :-/ By month’s end, the snow was pretty well all melted and March felt like a warm ‘n fuzzy lamb… LoL … and that’s sNOw April Fools joke! 😉

Sure luvin’ this early start to another season of spun in the sun! Literally a breath of fresh air for outdoor knitting, spinning, reading, lunching and yard-work activities! Plus, now that winter’s over and spring’s been sprung, I’m snoOow glad to have paused for pics before all the melting was done!

Hello & Welcome to my 58th episode of the KWH iPad Show! Today’s feature is a snowy bit of fibrous fun 😍

Oh how I love to watch snow melt—especially after being surrounded by it since November. Friday’s mild temperatures melted a lot of snow, so I grabbed a few colourful props and ran outside to enjoy the show! Yup… gotta ❤ a good ol’ fibrously fun backyard yarn-bombing photo shoot 🙂 Later that night, a storm blew into town and re-blanketed us in several inches of white :-/ But oh well, it was fun while it lasted…

The golfing clown is a Jean Greenhow design. This half-knitted WIP of mine has been cooped up in the back of my yarn closet for … gulp … years! Really wanna/oughta/gotta get around to finishing that guy! Fun to take him out to play in the snow, though! 😉 Want to try this at home? #55 💜 O’ snOwy night & day pics… plus music video… O’ Holy Night by Home Free

the KWH iPad Show logo

Hello & Welcome to my 55th episode of the KWH iPad Show! Today’s feature is our recent snowfall 🙂

Ooooh… the snowy night & day scene outside our front door looks divine! Fresh flakes are just snooow pretty, aren’t they? And especially the first snowfall of fresh flakes! That’s why my trusty iPad & I always try to pixelate ’em asap upon arrival 🙂

These photos are actually our second snowfall of the season! The first was early October, way back when the trees still had all their green leaves!!! Much earlier than I’d have liked, albeit quite a pretty sight! I’m still in the process of processing all those photos. Posting these first will knock my flakes out of blogful order, but that’s snOw’kay 😉

Now nearing the end of November with a month ’til Christmas, it’s great to have snow! Snow helps get ya into the Christmas spirit and helps get my nimble Christmas knitting fingers into gear! 🙂

Hope it’s snowing well wherever you are! 😉

#53 💜 morbid moment with a soft touch

RIP li'l baby weasel

the KWH iPad Show logo

falling leaves October 30th, 2016

budding leaves May 2nd, 2016

Hello & Welcome to my 53rd episode of the KWH iPad Show! Today’s feature is a ghoulish true tale from half a year ago, when I stumbled upon the frightful sight of a wee baby weasel…
😮😨😱

Ah yes… I remember that morbid moment like it was only yesterday. The startling moment that caused me to scream at the sight of a dead (or was it still alive?!?) rodent’s body, right there on our backyard patio!!! … Well, perhaps it was less of a scream and more like a squeal or shriek?? Hmmm… nothing full throttle or shrill, mind you… Probably something as simple as “eeek!!!” with a bit of a jump… Yeah, that’s it… a startled jump! Or would that be jump startle?? Well anyway…

it was a lovely, warm and sunny afternoon in early May. The lawn and foliage was rising from winter dormancy. The flowers had not yet begun to bloom. Then suddenly, the piercing sound (which can scarcely be described as silence) of startled verbalism emitted from me…

A crowd of witnesses flocked to the scene… Well okay, our nearly 10-year old next-door neighbour and her friend happened to be passing by. Thankfully, and without a moment’s hesitation, the fearless young girls ran to my rescue! Upon closer examination, the tiny creature was found to be laying in a pool of its own blood. We pronounced the rodent dead at the scene. Prior to proper burial, we proceeded to respectfully photograph the unfortunate li’l guy—for the sake of its 15 minutes of fame via the blog.

Thanks to this photographic evidence, the victim has now been identified as a baby weasel. Yup… with an empty field out back and community pond around the corner, wildlife sightings are just part of the environment. So who knows what some other neighbour’s cat might drag into our yard next?!? :-/

Special thanks to Madison and Sarah, for their assistance throughout this investigation!

Hello & Welcome to my 46th episode of the KWH iPad Show! Today’s feature is my eye on the sky 🙂

We’re off on another 14-hour road trip adventure to Manitoba for a nephew’s wedding/family visit and HPP doctor’s appt. En route somewhere under the Saskatchewan sky, I glanced up from my knitting and grabbed the iPad to capture what looked to me like a heart in the clouds! Everyone else seems to see something different in this photo, though …LoL… So, what do yOu see?

Then back in the backyard at “party central” where all the family’s been gathering from Ontario, BC, Saskatchewan and Alberta—rays of afternoon sunshine offered some brilliant shadowy effects as preview to another golden prairie sunset ❤

Sweetie❤KNIT❤Shamrocks . . . a free little knitting pattern that felts like Spring!

Shamrockin' Spring bracelet with split (heart-shaped layout) yarn tails

Hello & Welcome to my 42nd episode of the KWH iPad Show! Today’s “St. Patrick’s Day” feature is a blogful compilation of my snowy shamrockin’ posts over the past few years 🙂

Our snow has all melted 😀 But mid-March is still early, so this morning’s light dusting of fresh flakes came as no surprise. Spring and the sounds of returning Canadian Geese are definitely in the air, though!

Yup… won’t be long now, before our earthy landscape turns a springy shade of green! March 2013 and March 2014 snowbanks were a different story—see above photos, compared with today’s few flakes. Then last year, the snow melted nearly as fast as this year! The weather was so mild that I happily “planted” a crop of handknit felted shamrock props before it all melted! Click here to view my iPad video.

That’s our normal wild ‘n crazy weather!

The video props include a few Shamrockin’ Spring Bracelets, along with 3-/4-leaf clovers. Unfortunately, my “luck” ran out and DIY instructions for the bracelets never got published in time, before my iMac died 😦 Now one year later, I’m still searching for that ol’ pot of iMac replacement gold at the end of the rainbow… And hoping all those how-to graphics I created are indeed safely locked inside my hard drive!!! :-/

For now, click the following links and see how to knit your own patch of shamrockin’ clover and/or tiny hearts:

the KWH iPad Show #30 💜 November snOw

NovemberSnow-back

.
Hello & Welcome
to my 30th episode of the
KWH iPad Show!

Today’s feature is the season’s first snowfall…
as seen through the eye of my iPad 🙂

iMac at first snowNovemberSnow-back<br />

Hey there…
We’ve got snow!

Yup…
It’s that snowy time of the year once again, here at the 53rd parallel north on the Canadian prairies. And awe shucks, I haven’t even blogged about my summer or autumn photos… yet!

This year’s first foot of flakey blanketing white fluff arrived Monday morning and continued to fall hard for us until Tuesday afternoon. It’s our first real snowfall since “snow angel” neighbour Randy moved away. And while my husband’s HPP medication is definitely showing signs of healing ((( yay, God heard and is answering our prayers!!! ))) he’s still on crutches. So, this 2015/16 season of snow shovelling is in my hands, which is totally okay. After these past few years of not having to shovel, my nimble knitting muscles are about due for a workout anyway 😉

The first snowfall is always the prettiest. Yet these (now less than 8 hours) short days leading up to winter solstice can be a challenge, when trying to capture glimmers of glistening fresh snowy magic. And so, my trusty iPad and I have been keeping one eye on the sky and a finger on the camera trigger!

Forecasters have predicted we’ll have another winter like last year… And that sounds good to me, since last year was mild! Whatever the case, I’m sure the snow will stick around until mid-to-late April—just like it always does :-/ 🙂 ❤

Hey… remember a few weeks ago, when our neighbour surprised me with a bagful of assorted yarn? Well, now look!

Another neighbour (an especially friendly clerk from our local Safeway store) has knit a red vest/slipper set and packed it in a canvas “Safeway” shopping bag with 3 pairs of 5 mm straight knitting needles, plus 3 big balls of gold/pink fuzzy-tufty fashion yarn! Such a sweet surprise 🙂 The canvas bag will be a handy tote for knitting projects. But what would you suggest to knit with yarn like this? I’m not sure what to make from it…

Yarn is always fun 🙂

But then, this past weekend was moving day for our dear “snow angel” neighbour Randy. Now their house is empty and I’m feeling a bit sad. Randy cared about his neighbours and was like a staple in the community 🙂 We’re blessed to have known him and very thankful for his diligent effort to clear the snow from several neighbouring driveways, including ours. There were days when the snow just kept coming… and so did Randy—frequently ploughing our place 2-3 times in one day!!! The weather was harsh, but Randy’s heart was warm. He knew hubby was on crutches and I’d be the one shovelling. So he definitely helped make our winters more bearable! Shovelling is okay and can even be fun (fresh air, sniffling neighbourly interaction, frozen faces, etc.). But y’know it can really cut into my knitting time 😉 So instead, it was my pleasure to knit special gifts of appreciation ❤

snowy sunsets ❤ #10

Now those days are gone… But lo and behold, look what I found! A snowful blast-from-the-past video of the last time Randy ploughed our driveway (dated March 2nd, 2015). How amazing for it to have survived all these months on my iPad! Who could have know that this glimpse of him in action would bid a fitting farewell… We’ll miss seeing them around the neighbourhood, but that’s life… God bless Randy and his wife in their new home ❤

the KWH iPad Show #11 💜 summer solstice sunset

Hello & Welcome
to my 11th episode of the
KWH iPad Show!

Today’s feature is our summer solstice sunset …
sunrise 5:06 am 🙂 sunset 10:06 pm
… missin’ my iMac, but luvin’ the 17-hour days!

blog post 🙂

My favourite thing about living this far north is summer solstice and the extra-long days that go with it! That “other” solstice will have us on the flip side soon enough… But these days, especially with the above seasonal temperatures we’ve been having, it’s just so GOOD to enjoy being outside watching glowing skies finally dim around 11 pm 🙂 That’s my idea of a summertime thrill!

Catching a glimpse of the summer solstice sunrise, on the other hand, is more rare… I’ll sometimes manage to wake up in time to see the sky already beginning to brighten by 4:00 am. But then I lay down for a moment, whilst the sun rises to the peak of our neighbour’s roof… And awe shucks, the moment passes me by again! :-/

Last year’s summer solstice was extra great, for me. That’s when my iMac finally got resuscitated, after a month and a half on the fritz 🙂  Now again, since directly following this post in early April of this year, my iMac has been gone for good :-/ But the blog must go on! And my trusty iPad has been a real lifesaver for that!!!

Thanks for joining me in my iPad-photo solstice celebration of God’s glorious sun setting skies on the longest day of the year. How did you enjoy your summer solstice?

Our weather forecast—fahrenheit or celcius—for the
first week of summer is looking mighty fine 😀
Wish you were here!

See how the video is panned to the far left? That’s where our winter solstice
sun shall set 6 months from now—between the last 2 clumps of taller trees.

Hello & Welcome
to my 8th episode of the
KWH iPad Show!

Today’s feature is abuzz with leafy sunsets
and the season’s first garden bouquet 🙂

.

budding mid-May sunset

Now that it’s June, I thought it might be fun to post a few floral foliage photos/video (captured, edited and watermarked via my iPad) of our garden bouquet from the last half of May 🙂

May felt warm like actual summer, yet the trees in our yard were as bare as Old Mother Hubbard’s cupboard! :-/ The first week of May brought showers of snow. But then it barely sprinkled, until finally raining last week. Yup, and our trees were leafless so long that I actually dressed then in yarn … LoL … Spring fever, anyone?!? Ah well, it seemed like a woolerful idea at the time 😉

Oh, but now see how our garden has grown! First came the leaves, followed by the bees. Bees all abuzz with the pollination of blooming bushes and apple/lilac blossoming trees! It’s all quite aromatic—if you don’t look at the weeds! 😛 And still daylight grows, for another couple of pre-solstice weeks 😀

.

Whewww… that’s a giant photo gallery! It took forever to process via my iPad, but I think I’m getting faster at it and learning lots… Apparently, this is what happens when you don’t get to see petals or leaves for half the year! :-/ Yup, and in another 5-6 months (when that “other” season roars back into town) this pictorial labour of love post will be my mind’s momentary getaway… savouring the scent, sight and bee buzzing sounds of a blossoming summer 🙂

the KWH iPad Show #7 💜 my birthday yarn stash

frowning Mac computer

.
Hello & Welcome
to my 7th episode of the
KWH iPad Show!

Today’s feature is the frill of the yarn . . .
which I’ve draped dreamily to decorate the
late-to-be-leafy trees in our backyard 🙂

Last month, my birthday heart’s desire was for another yarn-filled year with hubby ♥ But then my iMac died… quickly dashing any yarn stashing I’d planned 😦 Ohhh, but have I told you lately how he loves me?

May long-weekend foliage

He loves me SO much that…

On April 29th, one day before my 15% off birthday discount voucher from Herrschners was due to expire, he actually reminded and encouraged me to use the coupon to buy MORE yarn! Yup, you read that correctly 😉 More yarn, after all the years I’ve spent stretching our home’s yarn stashing capacity. That’s love, I say… true love! And so, to Herrschners I went!

My target was $150.00, since that amount seems the best deal for shipping. It was delivered in time for the May (aka Victoria Day) long weekend, when our trees were still leafless and bare. So dressing the trees in frilly yarn was good yarn bombing fun 😉 Now a week later, they are fully-dressed in foliage and the yarn is stashed back inside!

boxed birthday yarn stash from Herrschners

My birthday yarn stash box includes:

Sundance Chantilly Frill yarn 3-pack
—> 3 balls each onyx/fantasy
Northlands Notion wool yarn 5-pack
—> 5 balls each black/denim/berry/olive/putty
Luminous Assortment 10-pack
—> 3 balls each emerald/lipstick
—> 2 balls each ice/frost
Northlands Cavern Multis yarn
—> 1 ball spectra
Dimensions: Learn Needle Felting Kit
Brass Findings Starter Kit
Luxite Double End Crochet Hook size Q-17
Hearts Candy Mold
Plus, yet another 10% off voucher
for my next Herrschners order 🙂

NOTE: I am simply a customer writing this of my own accord—not affiliated with Herrschners in any way.

In addition to yarn, I’m so glad to finally get my hands on a few crafty tools that have been on my “list” for a while. Inspiration for the heart candy mold came from reading  this post by Janice at TSB 🙂 And with approximate yarn sale savings of $250 + vouchers ($375 according to SRP), I’m pretty pleased with my birthday yarn stash purchase… totalling $139.73 shipping/taxes included 🙂

“Five stories, five photos” #1

Hey there everyone! After this week’s “victorian lamb cake” reblog-turned-blog-post kerfuffle, I needed to give the ol’ reblogging thing a re-try. So here is our first dandelion of the year, together with a pretty little sentiment about dandelions from “Wisher” at Pretty Little Things in a Box 🙂 As well, it ties-in with my next fun post about backyard yarn bombing… And sheep like to eat dandelions too, right?!?

Now if you’ll excuse me a moment…
I’ll be outside plucking wishes 😉

Enjoy! 🙂 ♥ ❤

Pretty Little Things In A Box

Hello friends and readers,

Hope your weekend had gone by well… I’ve been kept busy with craft classes to teach and to be honest, I’ve not had any free time on hand to craft lately. Over at Claire’s Blog, she’s been tagged for 5 stories, 5 photos, and I’ve been nominated for it. I think is fun to get tagged and write something different for the blog for a while. Something not so “crafty”.

The rules of this tag are simple:
“Post a photo each day for five consecutive days and attach a story to the photo. It can be fiction or non-fiction, a poem or a short paragraph and each day nominate another blogger for the challenge”

My first photo for the tag:

you can either see a hundred weeds
or a thousand wishes”

the KWH iPad Show #4 💜 snow spun in the sun!

frowning Mac computer

.

Hello & Welcome
to my 4th episode of the

KWH iPad Show!

Today’s feature is a mix of fresh snow,
snuggled with a splinter of drop spindling.

What a difference a day or two… or even an hour or two… can make!

Around here, early to mid spring tends to be dominated by the 4-letter word “wind” 😛 And after 6 years, I’ve noticed that the snow barely melts before the winds pick up. This year, we caught a break when the snow melted early. Now finally, the wind appears to be calming down enough to take my spinning outside.

spintered spindle

duct taped spindle

Tuesday was a fairly breezy day for drop spindling outside. But gosh yarn it… the day was warm and I really wanted to spin newspaper yarn in the sunshine! As well, I’d mended the splintered stem of my wooden drop spindle. (Yup… first my iMac, then my drop spindle… What’s going to break next?!?) And the duct taped “fix” needed to be taken for a test spin! The duct tape worked like a charm, while a wild gust of wind whipped my spin-erfully experimental spool of video tape into a frenzied mess. And with that, my spun in the sun became more of an untangling mission :-/

So like any good blogger, I ran for my trusty iPad in hopes of capturing the wildness in motion. But oh well, at least I got a picture! (See first of 4 photos above).

Later that night, another 10-15 cms / 4-6″ snow storm roared across the region. By morning, we pushed back the flannel covers to discover we’d been blanketed in white… again! … sigh … This first-week-in-May snow thing is getting to be a habit. It’s enough to make you wanna cuddle-up and stay cozy inside. But then by late afternoon, it was all melted anyway. Now the shrubs/leaves are finally budding and our current forecast has me looking forward to more outdoor spinning 😀

the KWH iPad Show #2 💜 April snow showers

Hello & Welcome

KWH iPad Show!

Snow is fun, but watching it melt is usually more fun! Saturday was a great day to watch melting snow, since our area woke up to a whopping 30 cms / 12 inches of it! We slept-in, but don’t mind missing half the show. It was all melted by sundown, anyway. Now that it’s gone, I’m pleased to have captured AND watermarked (what will hopefully be) the final flakes of the season via my iPad 🙂 To do this, I used the WATERMARK online photo editing/watermarking website. Yup, gotta ❤ learning something new—even though my iMac died and my blogging life has been turned upside-down…

Snow is funny stuff, though. It tends to linger, but our trees usually begin budding by Earth Day. This year’s snow melted a month ago, yet it’s been so windy/dry that we’re still waiting to see blooms ‘n buds :-/ April snow showers are nothing unusual, around here. Local old-timers claim to have seen snow every month of the year! Personally, since moving here in 2009, we’ve seen snow once in September and 50% of the time during the first week in May.

melting March madness meets colour♥fool SPRING

March this year has brought melting madness our way… not once, but twice! This is exciting stuff!!! Exciting, since we are generally surrounded by snow for 5 months of every year and do not expect noticeable signs of melting until early-ish April. But this winter has been fairly short, with snow arriving in November and melting mid-March 🙂 . . . Plus for our first time since moving here in 2009, March weather has actually been warm enough to sit outside wearing shorts/tank tops. Compare that to 2009, when March temperatures plummeted to -50 with the windchill… And see what I mean?

Yep, this melting March madness stuff is super-exciting!springSnow_KWH5942

But alas, therein lurks a deeper madness… I call it the “flutter-by effect”. That’s when spring gets sprung into action and becomes such a distraction that none of the creative dots can find a decent connection.

So what’s a blogger to do? Let me know if you know. For now, I’m just glad to have connected a couple of blogful dots for this post, gosh-yarn-it! And with snow in the forecast, more dots are bound to get connected soon…

Oh snow…
here we snow again!

It had all melted, days before spring…
But now look there at our lawn chairs,
where we’d been sitting (‘n knitting)
outside and everything!

So now spring has arrived,
Canadian Geese honking outside,
trees all are budding and we’re
celebrating inside, under another
fresh fallen cover of whiteness.

It’s been a fairly wacky year for weather, wouldn’t you say? We had one snowy day in September, followed by one of our mildest, spring-like winter’s ever. And now, spring is looking like winter. There were fresh flakes that fell on the first day of spring 2014, too… Oh and who can forget those spring snowbanks from 2013! Ah well, ‘guess we’ll weather the weather, whether we like it or not 😉 Summer is nice, but it’s just not the same as spelling “Spring” with Christmas garland in the snow!

Happy New Year!
Thanks for connecting with me
and
WELCOME to my 100th post

Yup, this little milestone post of mine has somehow managed to coincide with the world-wide party celebration of the year! How’s that for timing? It merely took nearly 3 years to get here… lol … 18 posts during my first (super-timid me) year + 37 posts in 2013 (when I began to relax) + 45 posts for 2014 (counting this one)… And now looking ahead to 2015 with blogful hopes of possibly doubling that count by the end of the year. Can she do it? There’s bound to be at least another 100 posts in me, so let’s hope!!!

stitch markers and crochet snowflakes from AngelaNow for the yarn party, which is already underway…

A few days before Christmas, we received a pretty little package in the post. It was from Singapore, where Angela aka Pretty Little Things In A Box blogs about crafts. The parcel was such a pleasant surprise, including: 8 handmade stitch markers + 9 crocheted red/white/green snowflake ornaments with heart-shaped buttons and festive ribbon 🙂 Thank you so much, Angela ♥ These lovely little treasures make a pretty little Christmas tree, too—see photo 🙂

hand-knit hat from PatOur neighbour, Pat, also learned to knit this past summer. And she’s been knitting “all the things” ever since… Pretty sure everyone she knows got a handknit hat for Christmas, this year 😉 She even knit a lovely purple wool slouchy hat with loom-flowers for me, accompanied by a sweet sack of Christmas shortbread! I hung them with care, for photos on our Christmas decorated stairs. But alas, the heart I knit for her got away without photos…

tree of Oilers heart dishcloths in the snowAside from colour, though, it was the same heart-shaped pattern that I knit for Randy (our “snow angel” retired NHL linesman now realtor neighbour extraordinaire). He clears our driveway whenever it snows. So in appreciation, I knit him half a dozen heart-shaped dishcloths in “Edmonton Oiler” colours (presuming the Oilers to be his favourite hockey team). But oops… as an NHL professional, his team preference is unbiased—duhhh. Oh well, at least the orange cotton I ordered on “Black Friday” turned out to be the perfect shade and arrived in time to knit them. I took them outside for a photo shoot while still damp from blocking and the hearts quickly froze. It cracked me up—seeing all those frozen hearts hanging from our leafless tree … teehee … What else did I expect at -20ºC/-4ºF?!? 😉

Ohhh… and so nice to see that the orples have been by again! I hear they’re itching to learn stitching. So let’s all get together and knit one day real soon! 🙂

Wishing you the happiest of New Years in 2015 ♥ Jackie
