#55 💜 O’ snOwy night & day pics… plus music video… O’ Holy Night by Home Free

the KWH iPad Show logo

Hello & Welcome to my 55th episode of the KWH iPad Show! Today’s feature is our recent snowfall 🙂

Ooooh… the snowy night & day scene outside our front door looks divine! Fresh flakes are just snooow pretty, aren’t they? And especially the first snowfall of fresh flakes! That’s why my trusty iPad & I always try to pixelate ’em asap upon arrival 🙂

These photos are actually our second snowfall of the season! The first was early October, way back when the trees still had all their green leaves!!! Much earlier than I’d have liked, albeit quite a pretty sight! I’m still in the process of processing all those photos. Posting these first will knock my flakes out of blogful order, but that’s snOw’kay 😉

Now nearing the end of November with a month ’til Christmas, it’s great to have snow! Snow helps get ya into the Christmas spirit and helps get my nimble Christmas knitting fingers into gear! 🙂

Hope it’s snowing well wherever you are! 😉

#53 💜 morbid moment with a soft touch

RIP li'l baby weasel

Hello & Welcome to my 53rd episode of the KWH iPad Show! Today’s feature is a ghoulish true tale from half a year ago, when I stumbled upon the frightful sight of a wee baby weasel…
😮😨😱

Ah yes… I remember that morbid moment like it was only yesterday. The startling moment that caused me to scream at the sight of a dead (or was it still alive?!?) rodent’s body, right there on our backyard patio!!! … Well, perhaps it was less of a scream and more like a squeal or shriek?? Hmmm… nothing full throttle or shrill, mind you… Probably something as simple as “eeek!!!” with a bit of a jump… Yeah, that’s it… a startled jump! Or would that be jump startle?? Well anyway…

it was a lovely, warm and sunny afternoon in early May. The lawn and foliage was rising from winter dormancy. The flowers had not yet begun to bloom. Then suddenly, the piercing sound (which can scarcely be described as silence) of startled verbalism emitted from me…

A crowd of witnesses flocked to the scene… Well okay, our nearly 10-year old next-door neighbour and her friend happened to be passing by. Thankfully, and without a moment’s hesitation, the fearless young girls ran to my rescue! Upon closer examination, the tiny creature was found to be laying in a pool of its own blood. We pronounced the rodent dead at the scene. Prior to proper burial, we proceeded to respectfully photograph the unfortunate li’l guy—for the sake of its 15 minutes of fame via the blog.

Thanks to this photographic evidence, the victim has now been identified as a baby weasel. Yup… with an empty field out back and community pond around the corner, wildlife sightings are just part of the environment. So who knows what some other neighbour’s cat might drag into our yard next?!? :-/

Special thanks to Madison and Sarah, for their assistance throughout this investigation!

Today’s feature is L♥VE 🙂

L♥VE makes the world go ’round…

L♥VE is the answer…

God is L♥VE…

Apart from love, this ol’ world
of ours would be a cold, dark,
lonely place—even on a good day!

So today on my husband’s birthday,
I am blessed because God has
filled our hearts with unconditional
L♥VE for each other ❤

#44 💜 Mirror, mirror on the wall…

Hello & Welcome to my 44th episode of the KWH iPad Show! Today’s “Wordless Wednesday” feature is a single, simple, hearty image found via facebook

This, while my blogful brain is all but bursting with blog-buster ideas! Yet somehow, none can seem to find their way out and onto the page!
😉 :-/ 🙂 ❤

Photo & Poem by Kim Uliana
Mirror, mirror on the wall…
It does not matter if I’m short or tall…
If I have skinny legs or my hips are wide…
It only matters who I am inside…
Blue eyes, brown eyes, black or green…
What makes me most beautiful cannot be seen…
When you look at me, don’t judge me by my parts…
The most beautiful thing about me is my heart.

#40 💜 outstanding blog award nominations

blogging awards

Hello & Welcome to my 40th episode of the KWH iPad Show! Today’s feature is
my cyber-award trophy showcase of unclaimed blog award nominations 🙂

It’s Oscar weekend in Hollywood, when glitz and glamour gathers at the Academy Award ceremonies to reveal the winning nominees… Truth be told, I haven’t much of a clue these days about who’s who in tinseltown……… My favourite movies are the black/white silent films (totally LoL Buster Keeton—see “Backstage” 1919, below) and classics from 1930’s to 1940’s……… For today, though, I’m hitching this post to the coat tails of Hollywood’s star pretenders for a virtual award celebration of my own!

Blog award nominations are an honour to receive, as well as a fun way to meet new blogs! Still, the awards can sometimes fall through the cracks. So today, I’d like to “open the unclaimed award envelope” and extend a hearty nod of recognition to all the bloggers who have kindly nominated my KWH blog! Feeling a bit sheepish, but just wanted to say I haven’t forgotten about you guys! :-/

And better late than never… right?!? Or is there a statute of limitations on blog awards? 😉 Currently running late by nearly 3 years, according to the oldest of these nominations … gasp!!! That’s going back to before my ol’ iMac died the FIRST time… yikes!!! Ah well, what’s not done is done… Yup, time sure flies when your computer conks out and cuts into your fun :-/ I’d like to expand on each of these, but it took me this long to get this far… So we’ll see how it goes 😉

Anyhoo… without further ado… may I present to you… my unclaimed list of recognition for all 8 outstanding blogosphere award nominations ❤ Congratulations to the nominators!

men dressed in fibrous creativity
Hello & Welcome to my 36th episode of the KWH iPad Show! Today is a friendly day of cyber-fibre fun, in honour of our friend Ursula’s birthday ❤

Ursula is our neighbour. It’s always fun when we get together… But even when we can’t, good ol’ facebook bridges the smiles across the miles 🙂

In honour of this special day, I thought it’d be fun to greet her with a blog post to hightlight some of the crack-me-up fun photos she posts on my fb page ’cause they make her think of… me!

LoLoLoL ❤ Ursula
Happy birthday, to you!

Warning:  some of these fibrous images
really ought to come with a warning and
may be best viewed with eyes closed 😉

And please… don’t get any ideas
about knitting any of this stuff…
Or just share photos, if you do!!!

Did you know approx 360,000 people world-wide are born every day? That’s a BIG party! So if today’s your b-day, do consider this my “happy birthday” hugs/wishes post to you, too ❤

A Prayer for My Friend

#35 💜 9 months and counting…

the KWH iPad Show logoA New Year's Prayer

Romans 15:13
Hello & Welcome to my 35th episode of the KWH iPad Show! I hope your year so far is going well 🙂 Our 2016 got off to a rough start 😦 But today is a new day… and the “show” must go on!

So can you believe it’s been 9 months since my iMac died and left the blogging to just you, me & my iPad? Yup! … 9 solid months, since I’ve stroked the blogful keys of a real computer that uses more than an app for this or that! I’d never have believed it possible to last this long without going completely bonkers. Yet, here we all are… 9 months ago, we were a crowd of 330 readers, including WordPress + 30 or so “likes” from facebook… Then wOw, look at the 600+ crowd we are now!

Thanks everyone ❤ for keeping me company,
through to the new year… and counting!

Shaun the Sheep sheds shorn merino fleece ❤

Shaun the Sheep getting sheared!
— image found on facebook —

Earlier this week, a wayward sheep made headlines around the world when he was found hiding amidst the scrublands at Peter and Netty Hazell’s farm in Tasmania. The couple caught him fairly easily, since the wool had grown over his eyes. Naming him Shaun, they carried the living, breathing ball of merino woolliness into the yard for closer inspection.

According to his tags, Shaun the Sheep had been on the run across Australia’s island state of Tasmania for 6 years. Having never been sheared, his wool had grown to half a meter (20 inches) in length—compared with approximately 8 cms (3 inches) average length. Speculating that he might possibly be the world’s woolliest sheep, they scheduled Shaun the Sheep to be sheared on Thursday.

Shaun’s shorn fleece fell just short of the world record (held by a now-deceased New Zealand sheep named Shrek). But he’s surely pleased to have discarded his 23.5 kg (52 pounds) burden of fluff! I hear there’s a new ewe-friend in his life now too… woohoo! 🙂

cheers for shears without tears ❤ Jackie

summer’s sweet knitting tweets ❤

baby birdie on lawn chair

summer's sweet knitting tweets ❤Summer around here this year has been one gloriously sun-soaked day after another since the end of June 🙂 Just a few blips on the weather radar and that’s all!

So it’s been a great source for vitamin D, but not a great motivator for getting “inside work” done. And it feels a bit like winning the lottery, too… not that I’d have any idea what that might feel like 😉

Only the last few days have (finally?!?) cooled off a bit. But that’s okay. We’re not done with outdoor patio weather yet! And it’s about time I got down to business anyway—sorting and editing through all those billions of Niagara Peninsula photos from our vacation.

Then today, we saw this baby birdie perched upon my knitting lawn chair. Could that tweetie bird have been looking for me?!? Whatever the case, this moment has inspired me to “tweet” you a message…

Stay tuned for vacation pics (no worries, I’ve whittled them down to a couple dozen), followed by the ever-blooming daylily display. The “stitch tech” page will soon feature knitting techniques your yarn will yearn for. And the “my designs” page has now been updated with a photo slide show and quick links for easier navigation 🙂

wishing you sweet tweets this summer 🙂 ❤ Jackie

Olympian Rings with Heart

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

2012 is an olympic year, and the London 2012 Olympic Games are currently under way. The opening ceremony began with a fun skit of “Queen Elizabeth aka Bond girl” parachuting into the stadium. As well, this year’s newest olympic sport of watching The Royals watch The Games continues to be popular. Even London’s Mayor Boris Johnson, in his impromptu state of precarious en-dangle-ment, has managed to heighten entertainment value for the crowds. This, upon running out of “zip” along the Olympic zip-line attraction. Everyone got a good chuckle at the sight of his awkward moment. Still, he maintained to simply keep calm and carry on 🙂

Of course, the Olympics are about fun AND games… Winning a moment to stand on the podium is a thrill of a lifetime, for sure! Likewise, being the best you can be throughout competition and life is an attainable lifestyle for everyone and for always. And as I watch the world’s best athletes in action, while listening to their life stories of strength and sacrifice… I can’t help but feel inspired and encouraged to THINK like an Olympian… to get up off the couch… to do something more than before! Yes, there is a sense of “olympic spirit” in the air, these days. Perhaps you have felt this way too?

Then suddenly, as I racked my brain for a quick olympic-type project to knit, it occurred to me… that my very own Sweetie-KNIT-Heart spectrum-coloured photo was ready-and-waiting in the form of a ring. All it needed was a little rotation ‘n duplication. Now, my ring looks a bit like a colourful-hearty-knit version of the official Olympic rings… How fun is that!?! Tiny knit hearts are good for so very many things! What do you think?
