#37 💜 snuggle-up to a warm ‘n fuzzy goat story

Hello & Welcome to my 37th episode of
the KWH iPad Show! Today is a “cheesy”
warm ‘n fuzzy goat story 🙂

Once upon a time…

there was a farm of 120 goats in central Virginia, USA… called Caromont Farm. The farm was a happy place where all the goats produced lots of milk and the farmer kept very busy making goat cheese. All the people who ate the cheese were happy too, because it was so tasty 🙂

But what’s cheese without a little kidding around? This farm really likes to kid around… In fact, they’ve literally been kidding around so much that they’re now expecting approximately 90 bleating, bleary-eyed baby goats to be born next month!

Almost all kidding aside, the farm recruited volunteers online in preparation for the arrival of its newborns. Time slots to help care for and snuggle with the young herd were quickly filled! … hmmm … So ‘guess now they’ll just need tiny goat-size sweaters for ’em all?!? 😉

Yup… not a baaa-a-a-ad gig,
if you can get it!

Hello & Welcome
to my 28th episode of the
KWH iPad Show!

Today’s feature is the sheepish reason
behind last week’s emergency landing for
Singapore Airlines flight SQ7108 :-/

.

HuffPost Weird News - No Evidence Farting Livestock Caused Emergency Landing, Airline Says - article

Okay, so what’s all this fuss about flatulence?
Well apparently, a group of 2,186 Aussie sheep walked aboard a plane and farts began to fly! Smoke alarms went off and the plane made an emergency landing in Bali. Can ewe believe it?!? Awkward!!! Imagine the embarrassing headlines, had that been 2,186 of us … lol … Talk about the haunting effects of flaunting one’s flatulence… phew! So anyway, I’m sure this flock will feel sheepish for a while yet! 😉 Click photo to read HuffPost article.

And did you know cauliflower can cause flatulence? Click here to read more.
Plus, here’s a video demonstrating how to carve sheep from cauliflower!

the KWH iPad Show #21 💜 world’s top 5 wooliest sheep

Hello & Welcome
to my 21st episode of the
KWH iPad Show!

Today’s feature is the shear delight
of overgrown renegade sheep 🙂

Shrek the Sheep

2015 is the year of sheep… And if Little Bo Peep has lost her sheep, then I think Australia and New Zealand might be the place to find them! 😉 This theory based on the sheepishly warm ‘n fuzzy nEWEs reports of at least 5 renegade sheep—lost and found in the land Down Under.

New Zealand’s Shrek was the first and most famous baaa-d boy. By shear delight, he held the honour of wooliest sheep EVER and baaa-sked in the woolerful limelight until his death in 2011.

In 2014, Shrek’s record was bested by fellow New Zealand sheep Big Ben. Rounding-out the year, Big Ben was followed by a couple of Aussie sheep named Samson and Shaun—weighing-in just shy of the overgrown record for living, breathing balls of wool.

Now in 2015, another Aussie sheep called Chris was found to be carrying his own body weight in wool! What a relief to have returned home safely, after his 6-year walkabout—weighing-in at 97 pounds, minus his 89 pound sheared fleece. Chris’s fleece will likely put all other records to pasture… permanently!

Lost from their flocks, this elite handful of born-to-be-wild woolies have somehow managed to wander their way through the wilderness. Thankfully—despite being left alone to endure years of burdensome, heavy, matted wool coats that pulled the wool over their eyes—these mega merinos were eventually able to come home… Leaving their record-breaking fleece days behind them 😉

♥ ♥ ♥

Shrek (record 2004 – died 2011) — Otago NZ
27 kg / nearly 60 lbs wool fleece

Big Ben (January 2014) — Twizel NZ
28.9 kg / nearly 64 lbs wool fleece

Shaun (August 2014) — Tasmania AU
23.5 kg / 52 lbs wool fleece

Samson (September 2014) — Monaro AU
27.53 kg / nearly 61 lbs wool fleece

Chris (September 2015) — Canberra AU
40.2 kg / 89 lbs wool fleece

"insomnia" eye makeup design by Tal Peleg

2015 is the year of sheep… As a knitter, my sheepish thoughts revolve mainly around wool. But now LOOK at this “insomnia” design by eye-makeup artisan extraordinaire, Tal Peleg!

Her impressive portfolio is a magically delightful sight for sore eyes—including everything from movie themes & fairy tales to cats with yarn & this wide-eyed “insomnia” sheep dream design… Spying one of these will bring twinkling visions to any onlooker’s eyes ❤ Plus, since eyes are the windows to the soul, her dramatic “eyelid curtain” scenes make sense 🙂

All in all, so far I’d say this is the
most unusual place I’ve ever found sheep!
