Merry Christmas EVERYone! Wow, what a year 2018 has been… Only 3 (now 4) published blog posts, ‘though I’ve had plenty to say (accumulating more incomplete draft posts than ever before 🤔

Now for this post, I wanted to link a photo with my last year’s Christmas decor post. And suddenly, there it was. A box of fresh-baked shortbread from our next-door neighbours—uploaded 2 years ago to my WP media folder 😎 What could make it more perfect? We exchanged Christmas cookies again today 😍

Life’s funny like that, isn’t it? Sharing is caring and with crumbs to spare! Yup, ’tis better to give than receive… And ’tis better to realize we have what we need… And ’tis no use chasing our “wants” lists… ’cause have you seen those things? They’re endless! Contentment, now that’s something worth wanting!

how to make a heartfelted Bramble❤tini loop ornament ||| Knitting With HeartWell it’s beginning to look a lot like last year’s Christmas, now that my fibrously festive decor pics are finally packaged into a presentable post… HA! Why does time always fly so fast?!?

Anyhoo… holding an iPad completely still for stills can be a bit of a challenge. So in today’s photo gallery, I’ve included one especially blurred shot to emphasizes the crAZy of my logic to share Christmas photos a year late …LoL… But OhhhHo boy… really gotta get cracking on THIS year’s decorating! Family’s coming to visit from Manitoba and it’s gonna be extra fun… ‘though may need a Christmas miracle to get it all done!

‘Twas last Christmas when my nimble knitting fingers stitched the first fleecy prototype for my upcoming “It’s ALL about Jesus” mosaic knitting pattern design. I’d hoped to have it published by now, but these things take time. For now, I’m extremely thankful to have my ol’ iMac back and slowly-yet-surely moving forward with pattern layout preparations! Currently stitching my 4th sample—see lovely group shot of em’ all laid flat on a striped bath towel “blocking mat” 😉

Do you believe Christmas (and life in general) is all about Jesus? It truly warms my heart and soothes my soul to knit such comforting words ❤

Feel free to click the following photos and climb my stairway decor from Christmas past… 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016… Hope you’ll also enjoy the fireside Christmas music video and/or meaningful message from one of my favourite preachers,  Pastor Charles Lawson 🙂

Crochet me a closet

Ahhh yes…
gotta ❤ this cleverly crafted poem
by Kae @ Buckets on a Barefoot Beach
It reflects the story of my life… LoL 😉 🙂 💜 Jackie

Buckets on a Barefoot Beach

I keep looking for that closet

where

all the strands

of my life

are wound into neat balls,

waiting to be knit–

tidy patterns on shelves

and yellow and green skeins

and every assorted thing

crochet hooks,

and needles in a cushion

and pinned decisions

laid out as neat as

freshly-fallen snow angels

wearing home-made sweaters…

only to find

the door ajar,

buttons askance

and cross eyed tomcats

laying drunkenly next to a pair of hockey sticks

misplaced in a field of catnip

Darn it!

Where are my socks?

Somewhere, I suppose,

behind rose-painted thimbles

which hold enough lace and grace and strawberry wine

to sew me

a picnic in summertime

Hello & Welcome to my 58th episode of the KWH iPad Show! Today’s feature is a snowy bit of fibrous fun 😍

Oh how I love to watch snow melt—especially after being surrounded by it since November. Friday’s mild temperatures melted a lot of snow, so I grabbed a few colourful props and ran outside to enjoy the show! Yup… gotta ❤ a good ol’ fibrously fun backyard yarn-bombing photo shoot 🙂 Later that night, a storm blew into town and re-blanketed us in several inches of white :-/ But oh well, it was fun while it lasted…

The golfing clown is a Jean Greenhow design. This half-knitted WIP of mine has been cooped up in the back of my yarn closet for … gulp … years! Really wanna/oughta/gotta get around to finishing that guy! Fun to take him out to play in the snow, though! 😉 Want to try this at home? M’ Snow Lady’s face uses a pink Bramble❤️TINI for her nose and 2 green Hearty Links with Felted Loops for eyes and mouth 🙂

Flight Knits Carry-On WIP #2

Hello & Welcome to my 56th episode of the KWH iPad Show! Today’s feature is my knitterly version of Clement Clarke Moore’s “Twas the night before Christmas” poem—inspired by my sack of incomplete Christmas decorations, as I race to finish in time for the 25th! 🙂

‘Twas the weekend before Christmas,
when all through the house…
Not a project was finished,
not even a gift knit for my spouse!

The incomplete stitches were
layed by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas’
elf-help team soon would be there…

My needles were nestled
all snug in their yarn webs,
While visions of sweet FO’s
danced in my head.

And hubby in his sports jersey,
and I with my knitting lap,
Had just settled in for a long evening
of Hockey Night in Canada on tap.

Then away with my pics to the
web’s window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the iPad and threw
open the photo editing app,

And sprang to my blog,
to WordPress gave a whistle,
And away the pics flew
like the down of a thistle.

And I whistled, and shouted,
and called them by name…

Now Dasher! now Dancer!
now Prancer and Vixen!
On Comet! On Cupid!
on Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the blog!
there’s no time to crawl!
Now dash away!
Dash away! Dash away all!

Visions of Christmas Past- Redux via TheLifeProject

Christmas gift with heart & yarn embellishment

December is here and Christmas is near… hallelujah!
So let’s crank the Christmas carols and get this festive month started, shall we?

Today’s reblog was inspired by Don @ The Life Project—just one of the many, many WordPress blogs I love yet never read enough of :-/ Don’s thought provoking blog posts normally focus on insightful Bible study. In today’s post, he decks the Victorian era halls with a glimpse back to when life seemed simpler, people connected without the internet and everyday heirloom gifts/decor were mostly handmade 🙂 Totally my kind of fun! Add to that a charming on-screen vision of Christmas past via G.A. Smith’s “Santa Clause” (1898) silent film and (although my yarny hands are holding knitting needles) you could even say I’m hooked! 😉

Wishing a happy December to all,
and to all a heartily wholesome night! ❤ Jackie

TLP

The Christmas season is upon us, and even I can’t put it off any longer! I thought that it might be fun to take a look at it from two different points of view, looking back and looking forward.  Today, let’s look back…

For me, the notion of Christmas in the Victorian era is a great one; it somehow seems so innocent and wholesome.  I don’t know why this is, maybe I’m just a sucker for that period, but somehow things just seem more simple.  My honest guess is that this would amuse the people who lived then, but what the heck, let’s deck the halls!

Of course you would have to start out with your Christmas cards, this was the era that invented them, and since internet connections weren’t that great in those days, everyone would actually write them and send them in the mail!

OK, try to picture this:…

In today’s reblogged post, Tanya Cliff uses her own hand-knit samples to demonstrate a writer’s words as being strung together like rows or rounds of basic to complex knit stitches. She also quotes a Bible verse about the original knitter of the entire universe—who is God the Creator of all things! And that’s a great analogy worth sharing, I’d say 🙂

Adding to that…

This “life” fabric we’re writing will indeed formulate into many vibrantly patterned stitches/genres. Some stitches may “felt” dull. Others lacking in recommended tension will inevitably stretch out of shape. Unintentionally slipped stitches may cause entire WIPs (works in progress) to unravel prior to being properly cast off… And it could all spell trouble :-/ Try as we might to write right, I’m glad there’s one master editor—our heavenly Father… the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, who knew us before time began and knit us together in our mother’s womb 🙂 He is faithful and just to freely edit all errors for anyone who asks… And it’s by His pen that our names are written in the Book of Life ❤

So let’s trust Him and be patient with one another…
because God is not finished editing us yet! ♥ Jackie

Knitting a row of stitches at its most basic is like stringing simple words along the page to form a sentence. The dog runs. It gets boring quickly. The motivated knitter learns how to successfully…

#49 💜 How d’ya “like” that?!?

Sweetie Knit Heart free knitting patterntop 10 posts at Knitting With Heart blog

Hello & Welcome to my 49th episode of the KWH iPad Show! Today’s feature is a Sweetie♥Heart post that I hope you’ll like 🙂

Hey everyone 🙋😘😍 Well, a funny thing happened on my way back from last week’s “blog fog” post

But first, big THANKS for all your visits, comments, shares and likes to any of my posts ❤ Just checked the stats and my humble KWH blog has now passed 40k views… woohoo 🙂 Plus, it’s only the beginning of August and your collective likability has already exceeded the total number of “likes” from last year! Yup, a whole lotta liking going on—including last year’s “likes” blowing the top off the previous year’s “likes” 🙂 Wow… gotta say, I like what you did there 😉 You’re all on my rather lengthy shortlist of blogs to “like” ‘n LoL asap!

Okay, so getting back to my way back from the blog fog… A quick scroll to the bottom of this blog leads to a list of my top 10 posts. For months, this list has been shared equally between reblogged posts and posts I’ve personally composed. Now for the first time in the history of this blog, my Sweetie♥Heart tiny free knitting pattern/poem post has been bumped from its usual #1 spot on this list… AND it’s a reblogged post that bumped it!!! …wOw… How did that happen?!? Oh well, ‘guess my blogful head really was lost in a fog :-/ Plus, that reblog (pic of a sweet little girl sittin’ & knittin’ with her kitten) now holds the honour of being the first post to break the 100 “likes” mark… double-wOw WoW!

So anyhoo… please feel free to click the pic and check it out for yourself. As reblogfully amazing as this is, I’d sure like my own post to be the top “like” … just sayin’ 😉 I reckon we’d all like that! 🙂

Hello & Welcome to my 48th episode of the
KWH iPad Show! Today’s feature is kniterally flying high for HPP awareness 🙂

Hey everyone… Well, it’s been more than a few weeks since my last reblog/post. I’ve been reading as many posts as possible from the growing blog community that surrounds me. Yet try as I might to write, just couldn’t break through the “blog fog” brain clog that’s been keeping all my blogful dots of inspiration from connecting into posts :-/ ‘Guess lovely outdoor crafting weather can have that effect, sometimes 🙂 Have you experienced “blog fog”? How did you get back into your blogful groove?

Anyhoo… what have we been up to?

This past weekend, we packed our carry-on and flew to Winnipeg. Direct flight departure time was Friday morning at the crack of yawn 😉 I’m so glad we could attend the 1st annual Soft Bones Canada HPP Awareness Conference at The Forks in Winnipeg. It was a really well-organized event. Out-of-town attendees stayed at the Inn at the Forks. Friday night was an informal meet & greet for researchers, patients and organizers at the Museum of Human Rights. Saturday at the St. Boniface Hospital was a full day of HPP education seminars with experts from across Canada and the USA. Then following the seminar, the conference concluded on a full stomach with dinner at the Clay Oven 🙂

We stayed an extra day in The ‘Peg…
riding the prairie summer heatwave
and
enjoying BBQ time with family ❤

This flight also marked the first time (since our Cancun knitting fiasco in 2012, when airport security nearly confiscated my knitting needles… yikes!!!) that I’ve dared to carry my knitting aboard any aircraft. The needles were a go, ‘though the mere 1.5 hour flight was barely enough time for aerial photos, drafting this post PLUS knitting… LoL … Oh well, it felt good just knowing my knitting was near 😉 Knitting in the sky is the only way to fly, after all. And with USB ports at every seat, life above the clouds was pretty good!

Do you tend to over or under pack for travel?
My travel knitting WIPs always outweigh my destination. Only brought 2 low-risk carry-on flight knit WIPs this time. But alas, it was still too much 🙂

Hello & Welcome to my 47th episode of the KWH iPad Show! Today’s feature is a handicrafter’s round of custom copyright tag(s) for anyone game to knit my designs 🙂

But first, we’re home safe ‘n sound from our road trip! The wedding got off with just one required “hitch” ❤ But then, the internet went down unexpectedly… And it stayed down until long after everyone had returned home :-/ Can you imagine a house full of social networking text-craved adult family left to communicate the old-fashioned way?!? LoL 😉 Fortunately for me, my blog post got published in time… whew! Now several disconnected days later, my inbox again/still/continually runneth seriously over! I’ve managed to at least cover all your lovely comments, ‘though that hasn’t reduced this current cyber-shemozzle by much :-/

One comment—enquiring whether it’d be okay to appliqué my Sweetie♥KNIT♥Heart knitting pattern onto handcrafted hats for sale—was actually the inspiration for this post… Thanks again Nancy! In this “what’s yours is mine” world, respect for copyright warms my heart ❤

So now it’s official… Anyone wishing to enhance their items for sale or gifting may use my designs—provided you include a copy of the applicable printable tag(s) provided here by me. As well, I’d love to share pictures of your hearty creations. So please feel free to leave a link in the comments section below to show off your work! 🙂

Sweetie❤KNIT❤Shamrocks . . . a free little knitting pattern that felts like Spring!

Shamrockin' Spring bracelet with split (heart-shaped layout) yarn tails

Hello & Welcome to my 42nd episode of the KWH iPad Show! Today’s “St. Patrick’s Day” feature is a blogful compilation of my snowy shamrockin’ posts over the past few years 🙂

Our snow has all melted 😀 But mid-March is still early, so this morning’s light dusting of fresh flakes came as no surprise. Spring and the sounds of returning Canadian Geese are definitely in the air, though!

Yup… won’t be long now, before our earthy landscape turns a springy shade of green! March 2013 and March 2014 snowbanks were a different story—see above photos, compared with today’s few flakes. Then last year, the snow melted nearly as fast as this year! The weather was so mild that I happily “planted” a crop of handknit felted shamrock props before it all melted! Click here to view my iPad video.

That’s our normal wild ‘n crazy weather!

The video props include a few Shamrockin’ Spring Bracelets, along with 3-/4-leaf clovers. Unfortunately, my “luck” ran out and DIY instructions for the bracelets never got published in time, before my iMac died 😦 Now one year later, I’m still searching for that ol’ pot of iMac replacement gold at the end of the rainbow… And hoping all those how-to graphics I created are indeed safely locked inside my hard drive!!! :-/

For now, click the following links and see how to knit your own patch of shamrockin’ clover and/or tiny hearts:

Ursula is our neighbour. It’s always fun when we get together… But even when we can’t, good ol’ facebook bridges the smiles across the miles 🙂

In honour of this special day, I thought it’d be fun to greet her with a blog post to hightlight some of the crack-me-up fun photos she posts on my fb page ’cause they make her think of… me!

LoLoLoL ❤ Ursula
Happy birthday, to you!

about knitting any of this stuff…
Or just share photos, if you do!!!

Hello & Welcome
to my 34th episode of the
KWH iPad Show!

Today’s feature is our decorated staircase…
crafted over Christmas &
cheering-in the New Year 🙂

Happy New Year’s Eve, everyone!

stitch markers and crochet snowflakes from Angela

me at the Apple Store

Well here we are, one week past Christmas and finally posting my decorated staircase … LoL … Honestly, some people really ought to get their Christmas knitting act together and start stitching as soon as the stores start their seasonal displays!!! Ah well, it’s all fun and I’m not feeling a bit foolish for posting ’em late 😉 Far better to be squeeking-in with this post before the stroke of New Year’s, than suffer the hang-over of waiting ’til next year!

Anyhoo…

This year’s Christmas staircase theme colours include: red, green and white with spindles wrapped in icy blue eyelash yarn. The tree is one ball each of fleece/eyelash yarn. The large heart on the tree is red eyelash yarn…. Gotta say, I ❤ that eyelash yarn! These were part of my birthday yarn stash purchase from Herrschners. The candles are red crochet (wedding gift) doilies, with flames knit of fancy-fluffy-puffy golden yarn from a friend. The various garlands are knit from Bernat Boa, Lily Crafter’s Cotton (discontinued) and Bernat Christmas Tinsel worsted cotton… Ooooh, plus one furry strip of Baby Monkey ultra-soft yarn… Adorning tree ornaments include: 1 green wool Heartfelted Bramble♥tini Loop Ornament + 2 red/white fleece Sweetie♥Knit♥Hearts + 5 green wool Hearty Links with Felted Loops + 2 i-Cord candy canes. The tree topper ribbon is from an embellished Ferrero Rocher gift pack. That white loopy thing below the ribbon is just me playing with plarn (plastic yarn)—spun on my drop spindle.

And finally… the lovely crochet snowflakes and charmed stitch markers (also pictured separately from last year’s post) were gifted to me last Christmas from Angela aka “Wish I Were Stitching” WP blog… Thanks again, Angela ❤

Then today, technically ending the year off right, we popped into our nearest Apple Store and bought a much needed flash drive… It’s charging now! And am I ever looking forward to unloading my overstuffed iPad of nearly 9 months worth of blogging photos!!!

Merry Christmas Morning,

everyone!

For the past couple of years—see Christmas Day 2013 & 2014—I’ve been decorating our staircase (in lieu of the Christmas tree we don’t have), then posting photos of my festive yarn bombing decor to the blog on Christmas Day 🙂

That tradition continues this year, although it is running a bit late… :-/ I’ll have photos for my next blog post!

Ah well, inspiration can sometimes take time… while the calendar waits for no one. Add to that my “procraftinator” tendencies and you get yarnful knotty-ness that will soon be nice 🙂

And speaking of knots…

Did you know there’s a group on Ravelry that actually looks for and forward to untangling “opportunities” with yarny messes? Yup, you read that correctly!

Moonlight, Bloody Moonlight

Well, it’s October 31st…
a scary night of fright for some.

Personally, this spooky victorian treat of 19th century party games from AnnabelleTroy is tricky enough for me! Especially since my earlier attempt to reblog AnnabelleTroy’s “Victorian Lamb Cake” post turned out to be a bit of a nightmare! … LoL … So go on now and sit a spell with Annabelle… Show her some love and tell her I sent you! 🙂 ♥ Jackie

I’m always on the look out for the latest fashion with a touch of handcrafted goodness. Fashion week in London, New York and Paris (about 3-5 weeks ago) did not disappoint me! There were MANY outfits with knitted detail, crocheted touches and free style embroidery to drool over. Here are a few of my favourite outfits (with some notes on what caught my eye) by some pretty famous designers for Spring/Summer 2016.calvin klein october 2015 hellohart_com

It seems there is a “day” for everything, these days! And on Sunday this weekend, it was  “World Pasta Day“. Did you celebrate pasta in some way?

Pasta Party crochet pattern by Normalynn Hood

Did you know there are over 600 shapes of pasta? wOw… +600!!! I’m thinking any shape will do for most of us—as long as it tastes good… Anyone who enjoys crafting with pasta will care more about its shape/detail… Especially those talented cooks who like to make homemade pasta from scratch! Speaking of which… Here is a recipe for Fresh “Knitting Needle” Pasta with Goat Sauce—from My Calabria by Rosetta Costantino and Janet Fletcher. Recipe includes tips for using an actual knitting needle in the traditional pasta-making technique!

Plus of course, pasta’s long shelf life makes it a good choice for food hampers/donations 🙂

Hello & Welcome
to my 25th episode of the
KWH iPad Show!

Today’s feature is a bit of backyard knitting
amidst the golden leaves of autumn 🙂

.

I love yarn!
… and I love autumn!
… and yarn!
… and autumn’s golden leaves
… before they all fall!
… and I love knitting with yarn!

And of course, I love today…
because today is “I Love Yarn Day”
… yay!

These photos are from Thanksgiving weekend.
And today is another sun-shining 19ºC/66ºF day!
So pictured there in that photo is where I’ll be!
… sitting ‘n knitting 🙂
… with the man I love ❤
… and yarn I love 😉

Then election day is Monday the 19th.
Canadians will head to the polls…
where I hope our greater majority will join
Wayne “the great one” Gretzky
in casting votes for Stephen Harper!
