Hello & Welcome to my 48th episode of the
KWH iPad Show! Today’s feature is kniterally flying high for HPP awareness 🙂

Hey everyone… Well, it’s been more than a few weeks since my last reblog/post. I’ve been reading as many posts as possible from the growing blog community that surrounds me. Yet try as I might to write, just couldn’t break through the “blog fog” brain clog that’s been keeping all my blogful dots of inspiration from connecting into posts :-/ ‘Guess lovely outdoor crafting weather can have that effect, sometimes 🙂 Have you experienced “blog fog”? How did you get back into your blogful groove?

Anyhoo… what have we been up to?

This past weekend, we packed our carry-on and flew to Winnipeg. Direct flight departure time was Friday morning at the crack of yawn 😉 I’m so glad we could attend the 1st annual Soft Bones Canada HPP Awareness Conference at The Forks in Winnipeg. It was a really well-organized event. Out-of-town attendees stayed at the Inn at the Forks. Friday night was an informal meet & greet for researchers, patients and organizers at the Museum of Human Rights. Saturday at the St. Boniface Hospital was a full day of HPP education seminars with experts from across Canada and the USA. Then following the seminar, the conference concluded on a full stomach with dinner at the Clay Oven 🙂

We stayed an extra day in The ‘Peg…
riding the prairie summer heatwave
and
enjoying BBQ time with family ❤

This flight also marked the first time (since our Cancun knitting fiasco in 2012, when airport security nearly confiscated my knitting needles… yikes!!!) that I’ve dared to carry my knitting aboard any aircraft. The needles were a go, ‘though the mere 1.5 hour flight was barely enough time for aerial photos, drafting this post PLUS knitting… LoL … Oh well, it felt good just knowing my knitting was near 😉 Knitting in the sky is the only way to fly, after all. And with USB ports at every seat, life above the clouds was pretty good!

Do you tend to over or under pack for travel?
My travel knitting WIPs always outweigh my destination. Only brought 2 low-risk carry-on flight knit WIPs this time. But alas, it was still too much 🙂

I ever get out of this app-sized iPad space :-/

  1. Good to hear from you, Jackie.
I think you’d be arrested in Ireland if you tried to bring knitting needles on board but I can understand your need of them.

    • Hey Jean 🙂 Yikes, that’d be some serious knitting charges! ‘Guess I’ll stick with knitting whilst visiting you in Ireland aboard the WP cyber-spacecraft 😉 See you soon! 🙂 ♥ ❤

  2. You made me so nostalgic, being in Winnipeg, at The Forks AND then St Boniface Hospital where I did my nurse training many moons ago. How excellent that you were able to attend the seminars! ❤

    • Hey that’s pretty cool, Yvonne 🙂 St. B’s has a strong reputation. And the Forks has grown SO much over the past couple of decades, since I moved away from or even visited Wpg! Everything except for the hospital was within walking distance. The seminars were interesting and it was great to meet fellow-Canadians with HPP 🙂 ♥ ❤

It’s just easier to drive…well someone else drive, while I knit to keep my sanity…You always lift me up with your blogs…Thanks…You have been Heard!

    • Thank you, dear Bea ❤ I'm honoured and humbled to hear that my blogging lifts your spirits! Now for this trip, I only brought older/plastic needles and left my usual KnitPicks interchangeables at home—just in case 😉 So dumb that they don't help preserve our sanity and just let us knit! :-/ And SO much simpler to knit while someone else drives! 🙂 ♥ ❤

  4. You’ve been on my mind. Glad it was “blog fog” and nothing more serious keeping you away. Yes, inspiration keeps a schedule of its own. Sometimes life takes precedence over our “art”. Blessings always. ❤

    • Blessing to you, dear Anna ❤ Yup, blaming all my blog fog on summertime inspiration and didn't want to clog the place up with too much real life :-/ … but, LoL well … Calling my troubles "blog fog" and getting away for last weekend's change of scenery did seem to lift the fog, somewhat 🙂 ♥ ❤

  5. Hey – I have had blog fog – but only after too many months away – so now I keep breaks to a shorter duration! And getting out of a blog funk is different each time – but usually posting some simple photos has helped me get a groove and flow!

Also – laughing at how there’s knitting needles might be viewed – ha! Glad u were able to get them on board – and oh yeah – I under pack when I travel and sometimes it has been inconvenient – but I need the freedom and flexibility of “less” – and it is worth any rough patches – once I packed so light I had to shop for an outfit – but my bag was a soft suitcase that was squish-able and easily fit overhead – and something amazing about getting a bag stowed in “any” available bin! It having it easy to manage and carry it roll – so I always under pack – but if I knitted i would bring projects and needles – like u did!

    • Thanks for weighing-in, Yvette ❤ Yup, gotta keep our blog posts short and blog breaks shorter! Life can be such a downer, sometimes 😦 But it was good to jet away for a change of scenery! Now just gotta sit down to connect with all my blogful dots of inspiration before they scatter 'n hide… again :-/ Oh, and aren't yOu the underpacking (new outfit) genius! 😉 Chance of unexpected weather always sends me over-packing :-/ But this time, we fit all our stuff into a wheeled carry-on suitcase + knapsack—stashing hubby's crutches in the overhead bin 🙂 So yeah, less was more! Plus, not having to retrieve baggage upon arrival was quite freeing 🙂 ♥ ❤

      • Oh glad the crutches fit too!
My FIL has had his luggage lost numerous times – and so we started carrying on more and more for the “more secure” stuff factor too!
Hope u have a great day

  11. I can certainly related to ‘blog fog’…. this past year (or more) has me wondering about what I might still have in me to write about. Another blogger who started Thankfulness Mondays has kept me at least once a week doing a post. Sometimes I do another one but it is definitely a ‘fog’…
I can picture the ‘security’ at the airport confiscating your ‘knitting’ needles. I have no talent whatsoever with knitting… I knit something for my first baby… lots of mistakes but it was done by Mommy.. However, I didn’t know anything about wool and the first time I washed it, it shrunk to doll size… That was my first and last attempt .. ha! Diane

    • Ohhh no… such a shame your first baby’s hand-knit project shrunk by mistake :-/ Perhaps you’d like to try felting? Felting is the process of shrinking wool items on purpose! It works great to “erase” all sorts of stitching imperfections. The original fabric must be large enough to accommodate the shrinkage, though 😉

Blog fog can be a tough hurdle, too. But your posts are well-written, uplifting… and I’m sure there are plenty more where those came from! Great to partake in the thankful Monday post incentive, too 🙂 💜 Jackie@KWH
