Shrek the Sheep

2015 is the year of sheep…ย And if Little Bo Peep has lost her sheep, then I think Australia and New Zealand might be the place to find them! ๐Ÿ˜‰ This theory based on the sheepishly warm ‘n fuzzyย nEWEs reports ofย at least 5 renegade sheepโ€”lost and found in the land Down Under.

New Zealand’s Shrek was the first and most famous baaa-d boy. By shear delight, he held the honour of wooliest sheep EVERย and baaa-sked in the woolerful limelight until his death in 2011.

In 2014, Shrek’s record was bested by fellow New Zealand sheep Big Ben. Rounding-out the year, Big Ben was followed by a couple of Aussie sheep named Samson and Shaunโ€”weighing-in just shy of the overgrown record for living, breathing balls of wool.

Now in 2015, another Aussie sheep called Chris was found to be carrying his own body weight in wool! What a relief to have returnedย home safely, after hisย 6-year walkaboutโ€”weighing-in at 97 pounds, minus his 89 pound sheared fleece. Chris’s fleece willย likely put all other records to pasture… permanently!

Lost from their flocks, this elite handful of born-to-be-wild woolies have somehow managed to wander their way through theย wilderness. Thankfullyโ€”despite being left alone to endure years of burdensome, heavy, matted wool coats thatย pulled the wool over their eyesโ€”these mega merinos were eventually able to come home… Leavingย their record-breaking fleece days behind them ๐Ÿ˜‰
