Hello & Welcome

KWH iPad Show!

Today’s feature is our summer solstice sunset …
sunrise 5:06 am 🙂 sunset 10:06 pm

My favourite thing about living this far north is summer solstice and the extra-long days that go with it! That “other” solstice will have us on the flip side soon enough… But these days, especially with the above seasonal temperatures we’ve been having, it’s just so GOOD to enjoy being outside watching glowing skies finally dim around 11 pm 🙂 That’s my idea of a summertime thrill!

Catching a glimpse of the summer solstice sunrise, on the other hand, is more rare… I’ll sometimes manage to wake up in time to see the sky already beginning to brighten by 4:00 am. But then I lay down for a moment, whilst the sun rises to the peak of our neighbour’s roof… And awe shucks, the moment passes me by again! :-/

Last year’s summer solstice was extra great, for me. That’s when my iMac finally got resuscitated, after a month and a half on the fritz 🙂  Now again, since directly following this post in early April of this year, my iMac has been gone for good :-/ But the blog must go on! And my trusty iPad has been a real lifesaver for that!!!

Thanks for joining me in my iPad-photo solstice celebration of God’s glorious sun setting skies on the longest day of the year. How did you enjoy your summer solstice?

Our weather forecast—fahrenheit or celcius—for the
first week of summer is looking mighty fine 😀
Wish you were here!

See how the video is panned to the far left? That’s where our winter solstice
sun shall set 6 months from now—between the last 2 clumps of taller trees.

  4. I too enjoyed your views of the summer solstice! I are a bit further south but also not the setting and rising of the sun. Have a great summer! I have enjoyed exploring your creative blog!

    • So true, Steve 🙂 Really glad to have pics and this blog post from that gorgeaous day… Thanks for the reminder! Lately, I’ve caught myself looking out across that field with thoughts of summer earthtones… But then, my brain kicks into gear and says everything’s all white 😉 LoL … and will remain so for a couple more months… sigh… Must be a touch of cabin fever?! Ah well, be it physical or emotion, we all need relief from winter. I hope your winter season is going well for you! 🙂 💜 Jackie@KWH

Oh it is brutal out here! I live in So. Calif. so the worst winter we have is about 15 inches or rain over the year…I know, don’t throw snowballs at me…Lol!

Most of the year the sun is out and except for some mornings in the 30’s during winter, we don’t have much to complain about here…

        • heehee… Well you dodged a snow throw there, Steve 😉 Yup, SoCal winters are definitely a world away from ours! Thankfully, clear/sunshiny skies is one thing we have in abundance throughout the year! And already—since winter solstice, our sunrise/sunset hours have increased from 7 to 9 hours! 🙂 💜 Jackie@KWH
