. . . luv 'n stitches for our tired old world

And snow it begins… setting eyes upon wintery skies ♥

Snowy front yard.

photos posted from this time last year 🙂

BIG thanks to our kindhearted “mystery”
neighbour (we’re not sure who it was),
for clearing the snow from our driveway!
That was such a pleasant surprise!

‘Tis the start of another season to be jolly about snow shovels and bundling-up in woolly layers to go outdoors for work or play… Fa-la-la-laaa… Yup, snowy days are here again! Time to get the fleece out & put snow tires on the car & spread the bed with flannel & fire-up the furnace!

Still, the snowy white landscape makes everything look bright at night. Plus it looks quite pretty with the sunny blue sky, wouldn’t you say? ‘Guess that’s all white 😉 And do you know what else? It snowed Friday night and we slept-in Saturday morning… waking up to see that a kindhearted “mystery” neighbour had already cleared our driveway! It’s pretty cool—and not a bit flaky—knowing we have neighbours willing to do that!

Well it’s not too frightfully cold—yet, here on the minus end of the mid-November thermometer. But, golly gee whiz… how can it already feel like winter when I haven’t even blogged my autumn foliage and daylily garden bouquet photos yet?!? Hmmm… it might feel warm ‘n fuzzy to post them mid-winter? Yeah, that might be just the ticket to a momentary “mind-cation” escape from the snow 🙂

For now, set your eyes
upon these wintery skies! ♥ Jackie

    • Thank You 🙂 I’m so glad you enjoyed my photos! That one is my favourite too—caught the sun at just the right moment for a bit of glistening snowy detail. Will your snow last until next week? Wishing you an early Happy Thanksgiving! 🙂 ♥ ❤

  7. These are lovely, I think the first snow is always lovely, but it does tend to hang around a little too long!, thankfully we don’t usually get too much here in Ireland, though when it does snow, we are all totally unprepared, and chaos ensues!

    • Yup, the first snow is definitely the loveliest 🙂 But then around here, it keeps coming and ends up staying for pretty well half the year :-/ How long does the snow tend to stick around in your area? Do you have any photos of Ireland in the snow? 🙂 ♥ ❤

  9. You have changed things up a bit. I almost did not recognize the site at first, but the pictures are really nice! We had rain here today–actually off and on most all day then right before time for sunset, the sun came out and we had blue skies and a rainbow–not just any ordinary rainbow but a full one with all the colors. Less than half an hour later it was dark.

    • Snow glad you like ’em, Angela 😉 Pics like these are likely as close as you’ll get to snow this winter, eh?
And yes, a massive lake-effect snow storm did indeed bury Buffalo, NY in an entire winter’s worth of snow… yikes!!! And now, all that snow is melting… double-yikes!!!
Interestingly, the Niagara Peninsula (see my “where we went this summer” blog post) is just 45 minutes north across the lake and accumulated only a few inches of already melted snow… Crazy weather! 🙂 ♥ ❤

  11. Obviously you don’t live in Buffalo!!!! Even enough beauty is enough beauty!!! Anyone living near the great lakes will be a bit cautious about snowfalls this year for sure.

    • Hi Carol 🙂 Yup, happy to be living here on the land-locked prairie landscape. We have 0% chance of lake-effect snow storms! Such crazy, wild weather—over there in the Buffalo area. And to think that just 45 minutes north across the lake in the Niagara Peninsula, our family says they received only a few inches of already-melted snow… Hope your area is having good weather 🙂 ♥ ❤

  13. Weird question here- do you have an awd vehicle?

I ask because snow and awd can make for some great, if very stupid, fun.

    • LoL Ben, thanks for dropping by with this fun question 🙂 Our 12 year old Celica is fwd with snow tires for the winter. Lots of people do have awd/4wd, around here, though. But an icy highway can still have its way with them. For us, the aim is to keep from slipping ‘n sliding and avoid snow-stunt driving 😉 ♥ ❤
