. . . luv 'n stitches for our tired old world

my Canadian Sweetie❤KNIT❤Heart Flag Wristers in winter

This year as I watched the opening ceremonies and “parade of nations”  at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games, I was inspired to knit! All those flags from around the world, including that sea of red/white Canadian athletes, just always seems to put a patriotic lump in my throat. All this followed by a couple of weeks to sit ‘n knit on the couch, whilst watching all those elite athletes exerting themselves to the limits of skating, skiing, sledding, curling and ice hockey… It all makes for some great knitting! The 11-hour time zone difference was a bit rough, but it’s only once every couple of years or so, right?!?

By the time the olympics were wrapping up, I was heading outside for a photo shoot with the half-dozen-or-six Canadian Sweetie❤KNIT❤Heart Flag Wrister practice projects I’d completed. The day of the photo shoot was crisp, clear and cold. Temperatures were in the minus 20-something celsius range, which is cold enough to see one’s breath and too cold to be taking pics without gloves (also more wintery than any of that shorts-wearing stuff they enjoyed in Sochi). I’d tried photographing an indoor “fist pump/thumbs up” action shot, but snapping pics of one’s own hand is really difficult. So outside I went… just me ‘n the trees hanging out against the backdrop of the clear, blue, winter sky! What must the neighbours think?!? What would you think if you saw a neighbour photographing hand-knit items  in the snow? Do you think I ought to post a yard sign to explain about my knitting blog? 😉

None of these will win any medal, but I believe #7 will be the one to go for the gold! They are an easy way to wear my heart on my sleeve… and might make great hockey puck cozies, as well.

And now, after all this wintery talk, it pleases me to say that we’ll be jetting off to Southern California, USA for a few days where we won’t (better not!) see any snow 🙂 ❤ Jackie

    • Thanks Sandy 🙂 We’ve enjoyed our trip to California, but not because of the weather, unfortunately 😦 Raining here since yesterday, and heading home to -30° tomorrow! Oh well, glad to have snapped/posted a pic of palm tree sunshine on facebook before the weather turned! Hope the snow misses you guys!!! ❤
