Although winter’s just getting started, and we’ve another 3-4 months of anticipated snowfall to go… our landscape has already been heavily blanketed in nearly an entire winter’s worth of snow! Can you imagine the hours of back-breaking effort it would take to shovel all that by hand? … whew … And can you imagine how absolutely wonderful it would be if a “snow angel” were to come by and clear it all away every time it fell?

That, my friends, would be heavenly!

And oh thank Heaven for Randy Mitton, aka our “snow angel” neighbour, who generously makes time to clear several of his neighbour’s driveways… frequently more than once per day… all the while expecting no pay!

Vons gift certificate, golf balls

To show our appreciation, we put together a taylor made package of golf balls (in hopes he’ll get to do more than dream about hitting the green), a VONS gift certificate (so he and his lovely wife can enjoy a night out), and a little something hand-knit. But since there are hearts involved with pretty well everything I’ve been knitting these days, I was wracking my brain over what to knit for Randy (aka retired NHL linesman, now realtor)…

Then lo and behold, after a contemplative stash dive, thoughts of an Edmonton Oiler/snowy-themed cushion began to dance on my needles! I’d found a square cushion insert and just enough yarn in Oiler blue/orange, plus sparkly and fleecy white yarns—similar to that of fluffy, glistening snowflakes!!! It was fun to make, “fudge” (aren’t all prototypes stitched together with fudge?!?) and all 😉 There was even a spot to knit some extra heart! Now that it’s delivered, I just hope he likes it… What do you think?

enjoying the snow… ♥ Jackie

      • LOLOL……………. A very happy new year to you too. It is snow nice to know you. They keep showing the arctic chills hitting south and it is amazing to see those temps. Keep warm and keep knitting in the new year.

With the economics here and a slightly injured back. Taking a break from painting and clearing up to do some of that frugal sewing while the back heals a bit. Foldingg grocery bagss and a stoop and twist to put them away can be dangerous……………. whoops!!!!!!! Oh well, back to some needle work again. At least so much is done that it will get done,so nice to go back to needles for awhile. Lol

  4. What a nice gift! I am sure your neighbor doesn’t do his good deeds expecting any kind of payment but I am sure he was touched by your thoughtfulness! We need more people like both of you in this world! Happy New Year, Jackie! Enjoy your snow.. we are snow-free at the moment, but expecting 4 degree weather tonight.. Brrrrrrr.

    • Thanks Sandy, you’re too kind ❤ Indeed the world needs more like you and Randy. As for me, I’m just trying to keep up 😉 These days, we’re surrounded by about 4 feet of snow and just happy if our daytime high reaches 3ºF/-16ºC (never mind the brrrrrrrrr-overnight low)! Thinking a little “snow-free” would feel great right about now! Wishing you a Happy & Creative New Year!
