And snow it begins… the hunt for winter treasure ♥
.
They said it was coming,
and we knew they were right.
Then sure as predicted,
winter arrived Friday night…
along with 10-20 cms
of its fine flakey friends.
.
.
As the clock struck November, we fell back an hour (for Standard Time), pulled the flannel covers up over our heads and bid farewell to fall. There may or may not have been grumbling… though at our latitude, we really can’t complain (much). This was our first major snow of the season, and it fell after a fairly fab fall. Most of the leaves had remained on the trees right to the end of October, after all. But now the sunsets are so early, while the days suddenly seem short. Well at least we finally got that ‘extra’ hour back… so we’ll find a thwarted treasure of comfort in that 😉
The snow fell Friday through Saturday, leaving us in no rush to roll out of bed for a look outside on Sunday. Then when we finally did look, we saw Randy—and my frown was immediately turned upside-down 🙂 Our kindhearted neighbour had chosen to embrace the day. He’d bundled-up early and brought his snowblower our way! In fact by the time we noticed, he was nearly done clearing our driveway! We think Randy’s thoughtful heart makes him a treasure… and pray God bless him forever ❤
Treasures of kindness cannot melt the frozen snow, though their beauty will inspire the heart and just might help make the prospect of another long, harsh winter seem shorter 🙂 What other buried treasure have you found measured by the snow?
The pics are beautiful, I really like the sunset ones, and what a change from fall to winter! Neat how they’re taken from the same vantage point so you can really focus on the changes rather than process minor details. You give me a new perspective on the prairies which captures their beauty!

Thank you for your lovely comment, Lisa ❤ This is one of my favourite knitting spots 🙂 It’s too cold to knit outside now, but I’m glad to have these pics to look at throughout the next several months!

Oooh, COLD!!!!! Only a hint of it in rain here so far. What a wonderful neighbor!!! He probably has no idea how much that means that he did that. Keep warm and knit away!!!

Yup, all knitting has moved inside for the next half-year, or so! 😦 This is the 3rd year since Randy has taken it upon himself to clear our driveway 🙂 He’s a retired NHL linesman (now realtor), so has plenty of experience on the ice and with people. He also knows about our physical difficulties and is our obvious choice for realtor when the time comes to sell our place ❤ Take care and hope you get lots more mild weather to enjoy!

Ahhh yes, and snow it begins for you too? Well at least the one good thing about snow is that it gets you to start thinking about Christmas… My knitting gift list is still in my head, with just one gift WIP on the needles ❤

We are having a “poor” Christmas here until we see what the gov’t does in January. Trying to live a little careful and cautious. Some Christmas’s are like that. They go with the flow. Have had no time to make anything and too late now. Everything in the works wouldn’t be ready in time. lol

That’s understandable. We don’t do a lot of gifting either, since no family/kids at our place. It sort of felt like Christmas gifting last month, when we visited family for Thanksgiving and I kept knitting/giving away Bramble❤tini Hearts ❤

That is how it is with us. With 2 families out of state too far for frequent travel, it is “holiday” whenever we are able to get together. lol On the holidays we more miss them instead of enjoy them like we used to. The holidasy are fun, but not as much.

Sadly yes, having lived all these years so far apart from loved ones, I totally understand and concur ❤

Oh my goodness Jackie! Your pictures are beautiful! I love seeing the transition! But snow! YIKES! I guess it is November and our snows are probably just a few weeks away. What a beautiful scene, though! Thanks for sharing it! 🙂
