Remembering 9/11 … eleven years ago today
Remembering 9/11… the day when the world as we knew it took a twisted turn.

On this 11th anniversary of 9/11, we remember the tragic events of that fateful day. We recall where we were when we first heard the breaking news. We grieve for the precious lives that were lost and/or forever changed. We applaud the courageous everyday heroes who risked their own lives for the sake of helping another. We honour the bravery of uniformed heroes who put their lives at risk each and every day. And we salute military heros who fight overseas against terrorism, tyranny and oppression… far away from loved ones and the comforts of home. They’re fighting, lest we forget, to protect your freedom and mine.
“Even the smallest act of service,
the simplest act of kindness,
is a way to honor those we lost,
a way to reclaim that spirit of unity
that followed 9/11.”
– Barack Obama
Back then, and for weeks afterward, I recall being mesmerized by the steady stream of tv newscasts which reported the unfolding tragedy of 9/11/01. We all prayed for the victims, their families, for the citizens of New York City and the USA as a whole.
That’s when I noticed the start of something unique and interesting in my own life… Yes, it is true… the red/white/blue cotton yarn on my needles was beginning to look like a heart… and I’ve been knitting heart-shaped fabrics ever since ❤
